NFL 2025 Entry Rules Ban Popular Items Fans Always Bring

The NFL has officially rolled out new stadium entry rules for the 2025 season, and fans better take notes or risk getting turned away at the gate.

Starting with the preseason in August and fully enforced by Week 1 on September 4, these changes are shaking up game-day prep for NFL fans nationwide. The NFL stadium entry rules for 2025 are aimed at increasing security but have already sparked mixed reactions online.

The biggest update? Bags. Or more accurately, what bags you’re NOT allowed to bring. The NFL has always been strict about bag policies, but the 2025 updates take it to a new level. The NFL now limits the type, size, and features of bags fans can carry into any stadium. This includes clear bag mandates, size limits, and a list of completely banned items.

Here’s what’s allowed under the new 2025 NFL stadium entry policy:

  • Clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags no larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″
  • One-gallon clear Ziplock-style plastic bags
  • Small non-clear bags (must be 4.5″ x 6.5″ or smaller) only when carried with a clear bag
  • Bags must have no buckles, grommets, hardware, or decorations that obstruct visibility
  • Clear backpacks, fanny packs, and cinch bags are fine as long as they fit size rules

NFL-branded clear plastic tote bags can be purchased online or at team stores. If your bag doesn’t meet these exact standards, expect security to stop you.

The following items are banned:

  • Coolers
  • Briefcases
  • Non-clear backpacks and fanny packs
  • Diaper bags (unless medically necessary)
  • Non-clear cinch bags
  • Unapproved seat cushions
  • Luggage of any kind
  • Computer bags
  • Camera or binocular bags over 4.5″ x 6.5″

Blankets are allowed – but only if carried over the shoulder or arm through security screening.

The NFL reminds fans that medically necessary items are permitted after inspection. For example, diapers for babies can be packed in a clear bag, and any required medical gear should be declared at entry.

Teams are encouraging fans to check individual team websites for additional stadium-specific rules or exceptions. These policies are league-wide but may vary slightly based on stadium security arrangements.

With big dates like the NFL Draft in April and Super Bowl LX scheduled for February 8, 2026, fans are urged to plan ahead and avoid being denied entry on game day.

Important 2025 NFL Dates to Remember:

  • March 12 – Free Agency Begins
  • April 24–26 – NFL Draft (Green Bay, Wisconsin)
  • September 4 – Season Opener
  • November 27 – Thanksgiving Day Triple Header
  • January 4, 2026 – Regular Season Ends
  • February 8, 2026 – Super Bowl LX (Levi’s Stadium, California)

If you’re heading to a game this season, make sure to follow the updated NFL stadium entry rules 2025 – or risk being left outside with your snacks and gear confiscated.
