Travis Hunter Signs Massive $46M Deal with Jaguars

Travis Hunter is officially a Jacksonville Jaguar, and he’s making history doing it.

The 22-year-old star has signed a jaw-dropping four-year contract worth $46.65 million, including a massive $30.57 million signing bonus that’s being paid entirely upfront. That makes him the first non-quarterback who wasn’t a No. 1 overall pick to get such a hefty payout right away.

The Travis Hunter Jaguars deal doesn’t just reflect the franchise’s confidence, it hints at how crucial he’ll be for the 2025 season. His rookie base salary is set at $840,000, climbing to $2.96 million in year two, $5.08 million in year three, and $7.2 million in year four. There’s also an option for a fifth year on the table.

After signing the deal, Hunter posted a short video on social media, beaming: “What’s up, it’s your boy Travis Hunter. We are officially locked in; we just signed the contract, so let’s get started.” The energy is electric, and fans are already predicting a legendary career ahead.

What’s even more interesting is how the Jaguars introduced Hunter. Their initial announcement listed him as a wide receiver. Then, just hours later, they updated it to defensive back. That quiet switch speaks volumes about his potential dual role in Liam Coen’s 2025 playbook. Whether he’s catching bombs or shutting down receivers, Hunter’s going to be everywhere, and fans are hyped.

One fan wrote, “Multiple Pro Bowls incoming in this kid’s career.” Another added, “Liam Coen, do the right thing and give this man 100% snaps at WR every game.” Others are calling him “the franchise,” and based on the numbers, it’s clear the Jaguars are betting big.

Off the field, Hunter is already enjoying the perks of NFL stardom. The rookie just dropped $3.8 million on a 13-bedroom mansion in the upscale Deerwood Country Club in Jacksonville, Florida. He’ll be living there with his wife, Leanna, who he married last month in Tennessee. The couple, who’ve been together since high school, got engaged back in February 2024.

With this deal locked and the season schedule now out, fans can expect to see Hunter suit up for the first time on September 7 when the Jaguars host the Carolina Panthers at 1pm ET. All eyes will be on the two-way star as he steps onto the NFL stage with sky-high expectations and a salary to match.

Whether he ends up dominating on offense, defense, or both, Travis Hunter’s future looks bright in Jacksonville, and nobody’s ready for what he’s about to do.
