Cities: Skylines II’s upcoming expansion, Bridges and Ports, has been delayed once again.
Originally scheduled for Q1 2024, then pushed to Q2, the DLC is now expected to drop in Q4 2025. Developer Colossal Order says the additional time is needed to polish the content and ensure it meets community expectations.
The studio made the announcement in a post on the Paradox Forum. After internal reviews and feedback from early access testers, the team agreed that while certain features like the bridges and port mechanics were solid, other elements lacked the polish players would expect.
“After reviewing the content ourselves and sharing it with our early access group, we’ve received consistent feedback: the bridges are super exciting, and the port works well, but there are aspects of the expansion that are not as polished as they could be,” the developers said. “That left us with a difficult choice: delay the release once again to add more depth, or release it as-is, knowing players may feel it falls short.”
It’s a familiar story for Cities: Skylines II fans. Since the game’s troubled launch in 2023, Colossal Order has faced criticism over performance issues and underwhelming post-launch content. The first planned DLC, Beach Properties Asset Pack, was originally set for late 2023 but was delayed into 2024. When it finally released, players slammed it for offering too little at too high a price.
That backlash led the team to pause and reconsider their release strategy for future paid content. All upcoming DLCs were pushed back, and development priorities shifted to improving the game’s core experience.
Now with Bridges and Ports, the studio says it’s choosing to delay again rather than ship an expansion that doesn’t meet quality standards. “We believe the current content is enjoyable, but we’re not blind to what’s missing, and to bring it to the level you deserve, we need more time.”
While disappointing for fans eager for new features, many may see this as a good sign. After months of criticism, Colossal Order appears to be taking feedback seriously, aiming to win back player trust by prioritizing quality over deadlines.
No firm release date has been set for the Bridges and Ports DLC, but with a target window of Q4 2025, players likely won’t see it until the end of the year.
Until then, fans will have to wait and see whether the extra time leads to the kind of detailed, immersive content Cities: Skylines II was originally promised to deliver.
