Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Delayed to 2026 for More Polish

Skydance Games has officially delayed Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra to early 2026.

Originally expected later this year, the studio confirmed the change in a statement posted to X (formerly Twitter), explaining the extra time is necessary to ensure the team delivers a fully polished and immersive experience.

The statement reads, “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra will now be launching in early 2026. Taking this additional time will allow us to add more polish, and make sure we give you the best possible experience, and one that lives up to our vision.”

The game has been in development under the leadership of Amy Hennig, best known as the creative director of the Uncharted series. Set during World War II, the narrative-driven action-adventure will feature Captain America, Black Panther, and a Wakandan spy operating undercover in Axis-occupied Paris. The project was first revealed back in 2021 and got a major trailer reveal during last year’s Epic Games’ State of Unreal event at GDC.

Hennig has described the game as a “globe-trotting story,” with Wakanda playing a key role alongside Paris. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, she hinted that there are more locations yet to be revealed, expanding the scope beyond the already ambitious setting.

The delay might be disappointing to fans eager for a new Marvel story outside of the usual MCU framework, but it’s not unexpected. The game industry has seen a trend of developers pushing back releases to avoid crunch and deliver more polished results at launch. With Hennig at the helm and Skydance aiming high, expectations are already set for something cinematic and richly narrative.

While gameplay details remain under wraps, the initial trailer hinted at a blend of stealth, action, and cinematic storytelling. The use of four playable heroes, Captain America, Azzuri (the WWII-era Black Panther), Gabriel Jones (a Howling Commando), and Nanali (a Wakandan spy), suggests a multi-perspective format, possibly with story arcs intertwining across different fronts of the war.

Skydance has promised more updates soon, and with a release window now set for early 2026, it’s likely we’ll start seeing deeper looks at gameplay and story development throughout 2025. Until then, fans will have to be patient as the team works to bring this ambitious Marvel tale to life.
