New “Lost Soul Aside” Release Date Announced After Years in Development

The long-awaited release date for action RPG Lost Soul Aside has officially been delayed, again. Originally scheduled for release on May 30, 2025, the game will now launch on August 29, 2025, according to a statement released by developer Ultizero Games.

Studio head Yang Bing shared the news in a message posted to X, citing the need for more time to ensure the game meets internal quality standards. “We remain committed to delivering a high-quality game experience,” Bing said. “To match the standards Ultizero Games have set for ourselves, we are going to take some additional time to polish the game.”

For fans who’ve followed the project since its early development days, back when it was a solo indie effort started in 2016, this delay is likely bittersweet. On the one hand, it’s disappointing news for players who have already waited nearly a decade. On the other, it’s another signal that Ultizero is determined not to rush out an unfinished product.

Lost Soul Aside blends fast-paced hack-and-slash gameplay with cinematic visuals and a fantasy-meets-reality aesthetic. The game initially gained traction after Yang Bing’s early trailers went viral, prompting Sony to back the project under its China Hero Project initiative. That partnership gave the title a much-needed development boost, transitioning it from a passion project into a full-fledged console release.

Since then, Lost Soul Aside has remained relatively under the radar, surfacing occasionally with stunning new gameplay footage. Most recently, a boss battle trailer teased its smooth combat mechanics and deep RPG systems. But with the May release no longer happening, that momentum may slow unless further updates are released between now and August.

Still, the team appears confident in its revised timeline. Bing closed his statement by thanking fans for their ongoing support: “We want to express our heartfelt thanks to our fans waiting for the launch.”

With the new release date set for August 29, “Lost Soul Aside” will arrive on PlayStation 5 and PC, and expectations remain high. Whether Ultizero can stick the landing will be determined in a few short months, but for now, the delay seems to be in service of something more refined and complete.
