Tinder Launches Double Date Feature for Friends to Match Together

Tinder has started testing a new feature called Double Date, and it’s designed to bring friends into the swiping experience.

Instead of just going solo on the app, you can now pair up with a friend and match with other duos looking to do the same.

Here’s how it works. Users can form up to three friend pairs in their account. These pairs then appear in the swipe deck, allowing you to swipe left or right on other pairs. If both pairs swipe right on each other, it’s a match, and the Double Date profile will show up in your discovery section, right where you normally see your own matches and chats.

The twist with the Tinder Double Date feature is that both people from each friend pair appear side-by-side in the profile. This setup makes it easy for users to get a feel for the vibe of both friends. After matching, a group chat opens up between all four people, giving everyone a chance to talk and plan something together.

But Tinder didn’t stop there. While the focus is on group interaction, you can also swipe right on an individual within the matched pair. That way, if you’re more interested in one person specifically, you can still connect and message them directly.

For now, Tinder is rolling out Double Date in select regions, including the US and the UK, starting mid-July. Since it’s a test phase, premium features like Boosts and Super Likes aren’t available for Double Date yet. That means no extra visibility or top-of-the-stack swipes, so it’s all organic matching for now.

If you’re interested in trying Tinder’s new Double Date feature, it’s simple to set up. Open the Tinder app on Android, iOS, or even on a computer. Tap the settings icon, then choose “Open Settings.” Scroll down until you see the section called Double Date. Here, you can choose to show more Double Date profiles than regular ones, or hide them altogether if it’s not your thing.

This new feature could be a game-changer for people who want a more social way to meet others, especially for those who feel safer or more comfortable dating with a friend around. Whether you’re just looking to double up on the fun or make a connection with someone new while your friend does the same, Tinder Double Date adds a fresh dynamic to online dating.

Keep in mind, since it’s still in testing, things could change. But if you’re in a supported region, it’s worth checking out. Dating apps are evolving, and Tinder is betting on the idea that two’s company and four might be even better.
