Axwell Λ Ingrosso Call Underground Music – Amateur, Cause A Bit Of A Stir

Okay lets be honest; what they said did not cause a bit of a stir, it has caused people to go crazy and lose their minds.

Axwell Λ Ingrosso recently sat down for New York Times interview that took place at a SoHo Apple Store. The comments made during the course of the interview are what is the main point of topic here.

The duo categorized Americans as the “spring break” crowd, only wanting to hear the drops. They also said they did not “expect a deep techno purist to appreciate” their music.

And finally the main comment at hand,

“Underground dance music — in the nicest way possible — it’s amateur.”

Axwell Λ Ingrosso may have gone a bit too far with the above statement, yes. However its not the first time that an artist has gone forward to say something stupid towards a thing they represented at a point of time.

Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso both started off by making not so mainstream music. And that slowly progressed to their fame once they became the Swedish House Mafia with Steve Angello. Since then we all know the story; Back to back hits, and sold out shows across the world, the duo has truly come a long way to becoming Electronic Music’s top artists.

What hurts artists and fans alike here I feel is the fact that the duo made a comment that not only isn’t true but falls contradictory to their journey as artists. Condemning those artists who try to put their own heart and musical aspirations before the amount of sales they’ll make is unquestionably laughable in its wicked intent.

That said, we are all entitled to think what we want, say what we want and promote the music that we love. Maybe stardom seems to have hit the duo a bit harder than expected.
