Taylor Swift broke a record with “The Tortured Poets Department.”
The album that is now tagged her 11th career album was released on the 19th of April – a few days back. But, already, it has reclaimed Taylor’s No.1 spot on one of the world’s biggest streaming platforms, Spotify.
“The Tortured Poets Department” immediately became the most streamed album in less than 24 hours, making Taylor recognised as the most streamed artist in a single day as well.
Not to make it seem like she’s getting over comfortable with her fame, the 34-year-old singer has expressed great amusement with her fan base, the Swifties, for helping her achieve this new record. We mean; it’s not like she wasn’t expecting the “Tortured Poets Department” to top the charts, after putting everything she got into the making of the album.
But her humility is on another level, and it’s one of the things that makes her loved by virtually millions of people worldwide.
On the entertainment level, the release of the “Tortured Poets Department” comes with lots of unthinkable possibilities. One of which is likely to be the addition of some songs from the recently released album, into the setlist of the singer’s 6th career tour, “The Eras Tour.”
Even though all seems to be a bit calm at the moment, with a slight decrease in posts about Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” rocking the world, the singer has shaken the world for months now with amazing performances during her stadium concerts.
She took a break in March to rest a bit and then make final arrangements for the release of her album -One that has now made history in less than 24 hours of its release. The singer will be resuming the “Eras Tour” on the 9th of May. And Swifties believe the singer will resume with an addition of songs to the 44 already on the setlist of the “Eras Tour.”
When that happens, the remaining cities left on the schedule of the “Eras Tour” will be some of the luckiest since they’ll be served from Taylor Swift’s 11 Eras, not just 10 like the early schedules of the tour. But, you can also get Taylor Swift Tickets through a reliable tickets marketplace and be part of the history makers, since nothing is stopping you.
Is “The Tortured Poets Department” Taylor’s Best Album?
It’s hard to argue that “The Tortured Poets Department” isn’t the singer’s best album, especially when it is compared to some of her old albums, after looking at the record it has broken within a few hours of its release to the public.
The singer was engaged in a “promotion spree” on her social media accounts with posts about the album even before its release. So, it’s safe to state that Swifties and the world were anticipating the release of “The Tortured Poets Department.”
But, what could be the difference, and the major determining factor to the speed at which “The Tortured Poets Department” is going? The answer is, “Swifties.”
“Swifties” is popularly known as an organization that was formed by supporters of Taylor Swift, when she became active in the world of entertainment. But, even if they have been in existence for some time now, their might and number only grew stronger in recent years, and their support for Taylor became clearer when she released some of her re-recorded albums, and also amidst the “Eras Tour.”
When a fan base that has managed to turn you into a billionaire with 1 tour is standing behind you, Spotify will be the least of the records you’ll break. That is the case of Taylor Swift at the moment. We believe the difference between “The Tortured Poets Department” and other albums is the dedication of Swifties. Thanks to the fact that Taylor also has amazing songwriting and singing skills.
“The Tortured Poets Department” Trail So Far
Taylor Swift has updated her YouTube channel with the full tracks contained in “The Tortured Poets Department.” So far, the tracks have picked up momentum and are rising fast up the list of her most watched music videos and most listened to songs on her channel.
“Fortnight” has already accumulated 23 million views on YouTube, and that is after 24 hours of its posting. The song which Taylor featured Post Malone on, is the lead single in the album and was written by Taylor Swift, Austin Post, and Jack Antonoff. It’s quite amusing that aside from singing, Taylor has proven to be a great music producer. Certainly, her music-writing skills cannot be doubted as well.
One thing surprising about the traffic that “The Tortured Poets Department” has generated so far on Taylor’s channel is the fact that the original audio was posted 2 days ago, and it received only 6 million views. The original music video is the one with more than 23 million views at the time of writing this article. This begs the question, “What is in the video that has made people watch it over and over again?” You can watch the “Fortnight” video here.
Another song that has shown signs of being one of the people’s favorites as well as “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart,” with over 1.7 million views on YouTube. The song is the 13th song on the “The Tortured Poets Department” and was written by Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff. The duo still produced the song.
There’s something unique about the video “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.” Let’s not dive into analyzing the lyrics yet, but we’ll get there.
The first thing you see when “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart” comes on is a scene from the “Eras Tour.” This immediately gives you a clear image of what the song represents. The video goes on to show Taylor rocking the stage on different nights and representing different eras in her 6th tour. Presumably the perfect representation of her doing it even when she has a broken heart.
Once upon a time in April 2023, the news of Taylor Swift’s breakup with Joe Alwyn hit the net. Even though a lot of sources confirmed that the breakup was a mutual decision, we all knew that Taylor wasn’t ready for it. Her relationship at that time with Joe had lasted 6 years, one of the longest relationships the singer has engaged in in her lifetime.
If anything, we were not expecting a breakup, but news of a wedding date. But it all took a wrong turn in April 2023. What many didn’t know was that Taylor Swift had already started the “Eras Tour” in March of the same year. Now take a minute to think this through. The song is titled, “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.” What do you think she was referring to?
It forms a better image when you listen to the song. A line in the lyrics goes, “He said he’d love me all his life, But that life was too short.” Even if we are not sure of the promises Joe must have made to Taylor when they were together, we’re sure 6 years was enough to make one feel you’ll spend the rest of your life with them.
At the moment, it’s still too early for Taylor to start giving interviews on the background of each of the songs on the “The Tortured Poets Department.” But, with time, everything will come to light.
