Aubrey O’Day might be the next bombshell witness in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal sex-crimes trial, and her potential testimony is already stirring up serious noise.
The Danity Kane singer, who rose to fame under Diddy’s mentorship on MTV’s Making the Band back in 2005, has reportedly been subpoenaed to testify in court. While no official statement has been made, a source familiar with the matter confirmed her involvement, and O’Day’s cryptic Instagram post from New York, with a justice emoji, only added fuel to the fire. If she does take the stand, she could play a pivotal role in what’s shaping up to be one of the most explosive trials in music industry history.
Aubrey O’Day has never been quiet about her experience with Diddy. In June 2024, she gave an emotional interview to People where she shared that “there’s no vindication when you’re a victim of someone.” She called the trauma “a forever thing” and compared it to childhood abuse, saying the effects don’t just fade as you age, they become clearer and more painful. This kind of candidness could shake the courtroom if she’s called to testify, especially following Cassie Ventura Fine’s shocking testimony earlier this week.
Cassie, another former romantic partner of Combs, told the court that he physically and emotionally abused her for years. Her testimony included horrifying allegations of rape, manipulation, and blackmail, including threats to release videos from his alleged drug-fueled sex parties. It comes after CNN previously leaked 2016 surveillance footage showing Diddy violently attacking her in a hotel hallway. That video went viral in 2023 and has since become a focal point of the case. Cassie’s time on the stand has already lasted days and has left a heavy impact, both inside the courtroom and across social media.
Following Cassie’s appearance in court, O’Day took to X (formerly Twitter) and expressed her support in no uncertain terms. She wrote, “So many people have thumbs that are more active than their minds. Fear yields a heavy hand… It’s easy to say, it could never be me when you’ve never been handed those shoes to walk in.” That post may seem vague, but it clearly aligns her with the growing number of women speaking out against Combs.
The trial stems from Combs’ September 2024 arrest, when federal agents charged him with racketeering, sex trafficking, and transporting individuals across state lines to engage in prostitution. He’s currently being held in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center in the Special Housing Unit. If convicted, he faces decades behind bars.
Dawn Richard, another Danity Kane alum, is also reportedly being lined up to testify after O’Day. That means two of the five original members from the group Combs created could soon be detailing their own experiences with him under oath. Danity Kane was formed with Aubrey O’Day, Dawn Richard, Shannon Bex, Aundrea Fimbres, and D. Woods, only to see several dramatic splits over the years. O’Day’s own exit from the group in 2008 was messy and controversial, with Diddy allegedly firing her for not agreeing to things “in other areas” outside of music, according to her 2022 Call Her Daddy podcast interview.
Now, nearly two decades after Diddy launched her career, Aubrey O’Day may be returning to the spotlight in a very different way, one that could dramatically alter the trajectory of the trial. If she takes the stand and shares even a fraction of what she’s hinted at publicly, this could be a turning point in a case that’s already redefining the #MeToo movement within the music industry.
