Bebe Rexha just got real with fans and haters alike, opening up about a deeply personal loss while also slamming the nonstop commentary on her body.
The 35-year-old pop star took to social media to reveal that she recently suffered a pregnancy loss, something she had kept private until now. The confession came in the middle of a heated online exchange, triggered after rapper Azealia Banks made a backhanded comment about Bebe’s appearance at the Met Gala.
Azealia, who didn’t even attend the event, decided to comment from the sidelines, saying Bebe looked like she was on some kind of hormonal birth control. “It’s giving Implanon/NuvaRing she needs removed,” she wrote on X. Bebe didn’t hold back in her reply. “And you might want to jump on some type of therapy, sis,” she fired back. “Lexapro worked great for me.” She told Azealia to stop projecting her “deep-rooted sadness and chaos” and suggested healing looks better on everyone.
But the exchange didn’t stop there. Bebe then opened up about something far more personal, the pain she’s been carrying in silence. In a now-deleted post, she wrote, “I’m so tired of people commenting on my weight. I have PCOS and struggle with infertility. I got pregnant, and it didn’t work out, and I’ve been carrying that pain in silence. I never owed anyone that truth, but maybe now you’ll think twice before commenting on anyone else’s body.”
That hit hard. Bebe’s struggle with PCOS, or polycystic ovary syndrome, has been something she’s spoken about before. It causes weight fluctuations and can seriously affect fertility. She’s had to deal with internet trolls for years, constantly picking apart her appearance like she’s not a real person with real issues. After sharing her truth, she ended on a softer note: “Ok, I’m going to go and enjoy my day now. Have a good day, everyone. Love you.”
This isn’t the first time Bebe Rexha has addressed body shaming. Back in June 2023, she posted on Instagram, saying, “I know I’ve gained weight. Humans go through fluctuations.” She admitted it sucks to read mean comments but reminded everyone that numbers don’t define a person. “I’ve been learning not to judge myself and accept myself while also trying to make healthier decisions in my life,” she wrote. “What I have learned, though, is numbers don’t define you, your heart does.”
Bebe’s words cut through the noise of celebrity culture and hit at something real. Behind the glitz of the red carpet, she’s just a woman dealing with heartbreak, hormones, and healing, and she’s tired of pretending she’s not.
