Ben Affleck is reportedly not thrilled about Tom Cruise getting close with Ana de Armas, and his friends are definitely stirring the pot.
According to the Daily Mail, those close to the actor say he’s struggling a bit with seeing his ex with Cruise, especially since he’s always been “the jealous type.” And they’ve got one wild suggestion for him: get back at Cruise by dating his ex-wife, Katie Holmes.
Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas had a two-year relationship after meeting on the set of Deep Water, which ran from 2019 to early 2021. It ended because she didn’t want to stay in Los Angeles, while Ben had to remain close to his three kids with Jennifer Garner. Reports at the time said she walked away from the relationship, leaving him heartbroken. So yeah, seeing her all smiles now with Cruise is hitting a nerve.
Tom and Ana were first spotted together in February, sharing a dinner in London just before Valentine’s Day. Cruise’s team quickly shot down the dating rumors, calling it a business dinner to discuss future projects. But a few weeks later, Ana was photographed in Madrid holding hands with Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, the stepson of Cuba’s president. She reportedly started dating him in May 2024. That seemed to shut down the Cruise rumors… until April.
That’s when things really took off, literally. Cruise and Ana were spotted flying together in a private helicopter from Madrid to London. Then at the end of the month, they celebrated her birthday with another helicopter ride in London followed by a cozy dinner. That definitely doesn’t scream “strictly business.”
Back in LA, Affleck’s trying to stay focused, but sources say this whole thing has him spinning a bit. He really liked Ana, and seeing her happy with Cruise, someone he’s known for years, just adds to the weirdness. His friends, never ones to miss a moment for humor, started joking that he should “get revenge” by dating Holmes, Cruise’s ex-wife and the mother of his daughter Suri.
Of course, it’s mostly jokes. Katie lives in New York City, raising Suri quietly, and there’s no real sign she and Ben have even crossed paths. Still, the fact that his friends are bringing it up shows how surreal the whole love triangle (or square?) has become.
For now, Ben’s stuck watching this strange Hollywood carousel spin, his ex-girlfriend possibly dating his old friend, while people joke about him making moves on their shared ex’s ex. Classic Hollywood chaos.
