Ben Affleck in The Accountant 2 is giving fans something they didn’t expect – total honesty about his real-life dating struggles.
While promoting the upcoming sequel to the 2016 thriller, the 51-year-old actor opened up about how much he relates to his socially stiff character, Christian Wolff. Turns out, that awkward energy isn’t all acting.
Ben admitted during a press junket that flirting has never been his strong suit. “Here’s a guy who’s trying to figure out how to put himself out there,” he said of his character. “He doesn’t really know how to flirt exactly. He’s not comfortable – like so many of us.” That line alone sums up the vibe both onscreen and off.
He got even more real about the weirdness of dating and reading signals: “It’s not easy for anyone… you’re trying to gauge, ‘Is this person looking at me? Am I going to humiliate myself if I go over there?’” Safe to say, Ben Affleck in The Accountant 2 is just as lost in love as most of us.
One of the film’s more cringey but endearing moments features his character trying out line-dancing on a date. “It was kind of a lovely thing,” Ben said, laughing about how he probably won’t be booked for any dance-heavy roles anytime soon.
All of this comes in the wake of his recent divorce from Jennifer Lopez, finalized in January 2025. The couple rekindled their romance in 2021, only to split two years later. While Jennifer’s remained silent publicly, Ben described the breakup in a GQ interview as “drama-free,” adding that he still respects her deeply.
Since the split, Ben Affleck in The Accountant 2 has been keeping it low-key. Though he was linked briefly to Kick Kennedy in 2023, reports say he’s “casually dating” and hasn’t landed in a new serious relationship. There’s also chatter that he might want to reconnect with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, but sources say she’s not on the same page.
