Bethenny Frankel has never been shy about speaking her mind, and now she’s saying what many might be thinking, if a billionaire rolls up on a big boat, she’s out.
The former Real Housewives of New York City star told ADWEEK she would “definitely retire” if she found the right man with the right lifestyle. “I would definitely retire, like, if I end up with some billionaire on some big boat,” she said with a laugh, but let’s be honest, she wasn’t entirely joking. That’s classic Bethenny, mixing humor with a little truth.
At 54, Bethenny Frankel is still running on full steam, but she’s made it clear she’s open to switching gears if a yacht and a billionaire are involved. Her honesty has always been part of her brand, and she doesn’t pretend to be someone she’s not. In the same interview, she called herself an “accidental influencer,” even though she’s been one of the most successful reality TV stars turned entrepreneurs out there. But Bethenny also knows it takes real skill to make that kind of transition work.
“I see a lot of entrepreneurs and business owners that can’t help but want to promote themselves,” she explained. “But not everybody can do it, and you have to really know if you can. It has to land.” For her, it clearly has. From her time on RHONY to launching Skinnygirl, Bethenny’s always been able to connect with people by keeping it raw and real. She added, “Be honest, be authentic, this is what I’m doing.” And that’s basically her whole vibe. No filters, no fluff, just Bethenny being Bethenny.
But even the strongest personalities hit a breaking point, and earlier this month, she opened up about a huge life change, leaving New York for Florida. In a surprisingly emotional TikTok post, Bethenny said she felt like she was “drowning” before making the move. It wasn’t something she had been planning for long, either. “The morning of March 19th, this wasn’t even a thought and by that evening, a series of events transpired and we decided it was the best move to move here [to Florida],” she revealed.
Within five weeks, she sold her old house, bought a new one in Florida, and kept her apartment in New York just in case. The house she sold wasn’t just any property either, it was a massive, historic home complete with an apple orchard. Sounds dreamy, right? Not so much when you’re living in it mostly alone. “It was a massive property, and I made the decision to buy that property when I was in a different stage of my life. I thought it would be this, like, big family home and that I’d be entertaining there a lot,” she said. But life changes. People change. And for Bethenny, that dream started to feel more like a burden.
“The house was drowning me because it had an apple orchard, it was a historical house, it had all this property, and it was beautiful and amazing for a big family with kids and grandparents,” she said. “It just ended up being a place that I spent a lot of time alone [in] because I didn’t really know many people in that community.” So she made the call to let it go and start fresh.
Bethenny Frankel shares 14-year-old daughter Bryn with ex-husband Jason Hoppy, and Florida now offers her a lighter, more manageable lifestyle. It’s another reminder that even if you’re wildly successful, sometimes you just need to hit the reset button. And if that reset involves white sand beaches, better weather, and maybe bumping into a billionaire on a yacht? Bethenny’s not mad about it.
So, is she actually retiring anytime soon? Probably not. But if a wealthy boat-owning man comes into the picture, don’t be surprised if she drops everything and sails off into the sunset.
