Blake Lively’s Team Calls Out Taylor Swift Threat Rumors

Blake Lively’s lawyer is setting the record straight after explosive claims were made suggesting she pressured Taylor Swift’s legal team during the ongoing battle with Justin Baldoni.

The drama surrounding It Ends With Us just got messier, with accusations flying, subpoenas hitting inboxes, and high-profile names being dragged into the chaos. But Lively’s attorney insists the recent rumors tying the actress to a threat against Swift are completely false.

In a statement made on May 14, Lively’s attorney, Mike Gottlieb, slammed claims made by Justin Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, calling them “categorically false” and “completely untethered from reality.” This comes after Freedman alleged that Lively’s legal team pressured Taylor Swift’s lawyers to publicly support Lively – or risk having private texts leaked. The so-called source behind this accusation remains unnamed, and so far, there’s zero actual proof.

Taylor Swift subpoenaed

Still, Baldoni’s team has issued a subpoena to Venable LLP, the law firm representing Swift, hoping to uncover communications that might back up their claims. Gottlieb isn’t having it. He called the entire move cowardly and announced plans to file motions holding Baldoni’s lawyers accountable for what he described as misconduct. According to him, these kinds of baseless attacks are what he’s come to expect from the Wayfarer parties’ legal team, who seem more interested in “shooting first” than gathering facts.

For context, Blake Lively sued her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni back in December 2024 for alleged sexual harassment and retaliation. Baldoni hit back with a massive $400 million countersuit accusing Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, of defamation and extortion. It’s been a messy legal war since day one, and now it’s got a Taylor Swift twist.

Recently, it was revealed that Swift, who licensed her track “My Tears Ricochet” for the film , received a subpoena too. Her rep quickly shut down any implication that she was actually involved in the production. In a no-nonsense statement, Swift’s spokesperson said she never visited the set, had no input on casting or editing, and didn’t even see the movie until weeks after its public release. They made it clear that her only connection to the film was licensing one of her songs, just like 19 other artists did.

That didn’t stop Baldoni’s team from bringing her name into the case, something Swift’s rep called nothing more than a tabloid stunt. “This document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait,” they said, making it clear the pop star wants no part in the legal circus.

Lively’s team echoed that sentiment, accusing Baldoni’s lawyers of turning the whole thing into “entertainment for the tabloids” rather than treating it as a serious legal matter. They slammed the other side for continuing to “publicly intimidate, bully, shame, and attack women’s rights and reputations.”

Interestingly, some texts between Lively and Baldoni have already surfaced, including one where Lively allegedly referred to Swift and Reynolds as her “dragons”, strong” allies ready to defend her. Freedman used that detail to accuse Lively of dragging her famous friends into the mess to manipulate the situation, but again, no hard evidence backs that up.

When Lively recently appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers to promote Another Simple Favor, she kept her comments on the case vague but admitted this year has been a rollercoaster. “It’s been full of the highest highs and the lowest lows of my life,” she said.

As of now, both Lively and Baldoni are expected to testify when the case finally goes to trial in March 2026. Until then, this legal saga shows no signs of slowing down. But if Blake Lively’s lawyer has anything to say about it, dragging Taylor Swift’s name into the mess without receipts isn’t going to fly.
