Blake Shelton isn’t over the butterflies just yet.
Even though he and Gwen Stefani are nearing a full decade together, the country star says it all still feels brand new. The two first got together back in 2015 and tied the knot in 2021, but Blake says the spark hasn’t faded one bit. In fact, he told People magazine that he can’t believe how fast time has flown by.
“It honestly does feel like time is flying,” he said. “Some of the things we talk about now, we realize they happened eight years ago. And it’s like, how? 10 years is a long time, but the relationship still feels new for me.”
He believes that might just be the secret sauce to lasting happiness, keeping it light, exciting, and real. And while he’s busy promoting his new album For Recreational Use Only, Blake’s already looking forward to the chill family time ahead. With summer around the corner, he’s planning to slow down with Gwen and her three boys, Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo.
“We’re really looking forward to the kids being out of school,” Blake said. “We’ve got a few shows here and there, but nothing that ties us down. No plans, that’s kind of our favorite plan.”
Their chemistry goes beyond marriage, too. Gwen is featured on the new album on the track Hangin’ On, and Blake shared how their musical collabs come together over time, right at home. “We live together, so we walk around the house singing these songs,” he said. “By the time we hit the studio, we’re ready.”
He also revealed how Gwen is the perfectionist of the two, especially when it comes to lyrics. “She’s way more particular,” he said. “She has to see herself in the lyrics. Me? I’ve sung about going to prison without blinking. No debate.”
And apparently, there’s more in the vault. The couple recorded a second song during this process but decided to hold it for his next project. If their energy keeps flowing like this, fans can probably expect a lot more music, and love, from this duo.
