Brad Pitt is finally talking, and not just about his new projects or red carpet appearances, but rather his divorce with Angelina Jolie.
For the first time ever, the Hollywood icon, Brad Pitt, has opened up about the conclusion of his long-running and highly publicized divorce proceedings with Angelina Jolie. After nearly a decade of media headlines and courtroom drama, the 61-year-old actor is keeping it chill, brushing off the legal milestone as “not that major of a thing,” and saying it was “just something coming to fruition. Legally.”
Brad and Angelina’s relationship has been under a microscope since they met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2005. They tied the knot in 2014, but things fell apart in 2016 when Angelina filed for divorce. What followed wasn’t your typical celebrity breakup, it was a brutal legal saga involving custody disputes and a battle over their shared Château Miraval winery in France.
Despite the mess, Brad doesn’t seem too fazed. In his latest GQ interview, he spoke casually about the closure of their divorce case but noted that the attention on his personal life never really faded. “It’s been in the news for 30 years, bro. Or some version of my personal life, let’s put it that way,” he said, clearly over the media obsession.
Brad and Angelina share six kids, Maddox (23), Pax (21), Zahara (20), Shiloh (19), and twins Knox and Vivienne, who are 16. The custody battle over them has been a major sticking point in the divorce proceedings, with both parents standing firm on what they believe is best for their family.
And it’s not just the kids. The former couple also clashed over business matters, particularly their ownership of Château Miraval. The winery became a key piece in their legal war, with both parties fighting for control of the estate. While some disputes are still being resolved, Brad’s latest comments suggest that the main part of the divorce has been legally wrapped.
Currently, Brad is living in Los Angeles with his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, a 32-year-old jewelry executive. The couple made headlines earlier this year when they showed up together at the 2024 British Grand Prix. But if you thought that red carpet moment was part of some bigger PR strategy for his upcoming F1 movie, Brad says you’re wrong. “No, dude, it’s not that calculated,” he said. “If you’re living with making those kinds of calculations,? No, life just evolves. Relationships evolve.”
When asked if working on F1 was his way of finding peace from all the attention, Brad gave a blunt answer: “Um, I don’t see it that way.” He called the media noise “an annoyance I’ve had to always deal with in different degrees” and admitted it can be a “nagging time suck or waste of time, if you let it be that.”
But overall, Brad sounds like he’s in a good place. “Mostly I feel pretty… my life is fairly contained,” he said. “It feels pretty warm and secure with my friends, with my loves, with my family, and with my knowledge of who I am. That, you know, it’s like this fly buzzing around a little bit.”
Let’s not forget, before Angelina, Brad was married to Jennifer Aniston, now 55. They divorced in 2005, shortly after his relationship with Angelina went public. So yeah, Brad knows a thing or two about high-profile splits and relentless public attention.
Now that he’s finally addressed the elephant in the room, his divorce settlement with Angelina Jolie, Brad seems more focused on the future than the past. No theatrics, no drama. Just a guy who’s been through it all and is finally moving forward, his way.
