Brooklyn Beckham has finally shared a bit of insight into his relationship with his famous dad, David Beckham, and it turns out their love for fast cars was the unexpected glue that brought them closer.
The 26-year-old opened up during a recent interview and admitted that he bonded with his dad over their shared obsession with sports cars, something that’s been a longtime passion of David’s.
Speaking to The Sunday Times, Brooklyn said his dad inspired his love of racing when he was “very young” and that their connection grew stronger through their car obsession. “It’s something that me and my dad bonded over,” he said. “My dad’s had some pretty cool cars.” The convo took place back in March during the Formula E Evo Sessions in Florida, where Brooklyn was taking part in the high-speed event.
This sweet revelation comes at an awkward time, though. Rumors of a family rift have been circulating after Brooklyn was noticeably missing from David’s 50th birthday celebrations this month. Despite multiple parties and trips to mark the big milestone, including a glitzy bash in Miami, a country house gathering in the Cotswolds, a fancy trip to France, and a final party in London, Brooklyn didn’t show up to any of them. Yep, not a single one.
It’s raised a lot of eyebrows, especially given how close Brooklyn says he is to his dad. David himself seemed pretty chill about turning 50, telling Men’s Health that he’s not bothered by aging. “People are asking me about it gently, like it should be a big issue,” he said. “It’s not something that I’m worried about; as long as I’m fit and healthy and my family are healthy, that’s all I care about.”
Brooklyn, who lives in the U.S. with his wife, Nicola Peltz, didn’t comment directly on missing his dad’s birthday parties. But he’s definitely been active online celebrating other milestones, like his third wedding anniversary. In a gushy Instagram post, Brooklyn wrote, “Happy 3-year anniversary, baby x. I love you with all my heart. I’m so lucky I get to spend every day with you and wake up to your beautiful face every day. You are my world. I love you so much, Nicola.”

Nicola returned the love with a heartfelt tribute of her own. “I can’t believe it’s been three years since this day,” she posted. “I love you with all my heart and promise to always have your back. I can’t wait for forever with you. Thank you for being the most incredible husband I could ever dream of. I love you a million times over.”
While the Beckhams haven’t addressed any tension publicly, the timing of Brooklyn’s interview about bonding with David seems interesting. Was it damage control? A reminder that no matter the distance, there’s still love? Or just a genuine story about a father and son finding common ground in horsepower?
Whatever the case, fans are still rooting for a full-blown Beckham family reunion. And maybe one day soon, we’ll see Brooklyn back in the UK garage with David, revving engines and racing memories.
