Demi Moore is ready to ditch the dye and embrace her grays. At 62, the Hollywood icon has reflected on her hair journey and admitted that she’s definitely open to letting her natural color shine through. “I look at women who have that incredible gray, especially long, and I think it’s striking,” Demi shared in a recent interview. She believes that gray hair could give her a “striking” new look, but right now, it’s not quite enough to make the change just yet.
“I would definitely do it. I just don’t have enough to make it interesting,” she confessed. “Mine’s like a smattering that makes my hair look murky.” It’s clear that Demi’s not against the idea of rocking her natural gray, it’s just a matter of waiting for her hair to reach the level of graying that she finds appealing.
Demi’s relationship with her hair has always been adventurous. She didn’t start coloring her hair until she was 55, but prior to that, she’d already made some bold hair choices, like going blonde for her role in The Butcher’s Wife (1991). While she loved experimenting with blonde hair, Demi quickly learned that frequent coloring could come with a downside. “Dyeing your own hair blonde trashes it,” she said. But the fun she had with the blonde look was worth the damage, and she doesn’t regret the experience.
Another major hair moment in Demi’s career was her buzz cut for G.I. Jane (1997). While she rocked the bold look for the role of Lieutenant Jordan O’Neill, Demi doesn’t plan to shave her head again. “I feel fairly connected to my hair in a different kind of way. There’s energy in hair, you know? But I never like to say never,” she reflected.
While Demi’s hair has been a big part of her identity over the years, she’s also had a major impact on Hollywood. She believes her roles in G.I. Jane and Striptease changed the game for women in the industry. “If anything in this industry has ever been stacked against me, it was having those two films come out at the same time,” she said. She feels that her success in those movies shifted the landscape for actresses, proving that women could take on strong, unconventional roles and still succeed.
Whether it’s embracing her grays or reflecting on her career, Demi Moore continues to inspire with her unapologetic attitude and willingness to evolve.
