Nobody expected this love story, but Elizabeth Hurley and Billy Ray Cyrus are officially together, and they’re both feeling good about it.
The 59-year-old actress confirmed the unexpected relationship recently and said she’s hoping for a “great life” with the country music legend. Yep, the Austin Powers star and the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer are an item, and fans are still trying to process it.
Speaking to E! News, Elizabeth opened up about how surprising their connection was. “It was unexpected. But we’re very happy together. And hopefully we’ll have a great life,” she said. And with her 60th birthday coming up next month, she’s excited to ring in a new decade with her new man by her side.
“I always leave things to chance. I like birthdays, though,” she added. “I like getting presents, I like getting flowers, and I like everyone being nice to me for a day. So, whatever we do will be fun.”
Their connection actually began a few years ago, even if no one noticed at the time. The two met back in 2022 while filming Christmas in Paradise, though they didn’t have many scenes together. Still, something sparked.
Billy Ray recently got candid about how things developed between them, revealing on The Ty Bentli Show that he felt an immediate connection. “We did very few scenes together, but the couple of times we were in the same scene, there was a chemistry there. We just laughed, and it was at a time I wasn’t laughing a lot,” he said.
And it turns out, they had way more in common than either of them expected. “I figured we were so different, but in some very strange way we had way more in common than we had different,” Billy added. “She’s so impressively brilliant. She reminds me a lot of Dolly Parton. She’s a very smart businesswoman. If you can laugh together, you can make it through everything.”
Surprisingly, they didn’t keep in touch after the movie. In fact, they didn’t speak for two years. But right when Billy was going through a hard time, following his divorce from Firerose, Elizabeth reached out. And that one message changed everything.
Billy said he was at rock bottom. “I felt like, ‘Wow, can life get any harder? Can it get any tougher?’ For me, at a certain point it was like, you can’t get knocked down any flatter than lying on your back when life is kicking you.”
And then, out of the blue, a text came in. “A friend reached out,” he recalled. “I text back, I go, ‘Who is this?’ And it’s like, ‘Elizabeth Hurley.’ Of all the people to reach out to me in that second that maybe I needed most … this friend who made me laugh.”
It didn’t take long for those old sparks to return. What started with laughter and a bit of nostalgia quickly turned into something deeper. Now, the two are happily together, and while it might seem out of left field to the rest of us, they’re clearly enjoying the ride.
Elizabeth seems genuinely happy and optimistic about where things are going, and Billy can’t stop gushing about how much he admires her. Whether it’s her sharp business sense, her sense of humor, or just the comfort of having a friend when life gets rough, there’s something real here.
So while the rest of the internet is still raising eyebrows, Hurley and Cyrus are doing just fine. Unexpected? Totally. But maybe that’s what makes it work.
