Madison Beer, 26, is spilling the tea on her close friendship with Justin and Hailey Bieber in a recent interview with Cosmopolitan.
Reflecting on how long they’ve known each other, Beer revealed that she’s been close with Hailey since she was just 10 years old, and she’s known Justin since she was 12. “I love them very much,” Beer said, reminiscing about the time they recently spent together. “We were like, ‘How special that we’ve known each other for so long.'”
She went on to share how seeing Justin and Hailey together, now married and with a baby, makes her reflect on their long history. Beer and Justin’s connection goes way back, especially after he discovered her singing a cover of “At Last” by Etta James back in 2012. That moment led to Beer signing with Justin’s manager, Scooter Braun, and launching her own career.
However, not everything in Madison’s career has been smooth sailing. She got real about the dark side of the industry, recalling a time when everything seemed to fall apart. At just 16, she was dropped by her entire team: her manager, her lawyer, and her label. “I was 16, and my label was like, ‘Good luck,'” Beer shared, reflecting on the devastation she felt. She explained how her entire life shifted drastically in 12 hours. “They stole years of my childhood that I’ll never get back,” she said.
Madison also opened up about the tough conversations she overheard at such a young age. “There was a conversation around me when I was 14, people saying I was ‘too sexy’ to be marketed the way they wanted.” She didn’t hold back, calling out how uncomfortable it was to be treated like a commodity rather than an artist. As she put it, “I went from being family to being dropped like a dollar sign.”
Despite the hardship, Madison’s bond with Justin has remained strong. She admitted that the media’s comparisons of Justin as “the female Justin Bieber” were unfair, mainly because Justin and she shared a similar start, both signed under Scooter Braun’s management. But she acknowledged that Justin has faced his own personal battles, which allowed them to form a deeper understanding of each other.
Madison’s journey hasn’t been without its struggles, but as she continues to grow in her career, it’s clear that her connection with Justin and Hailey is a long-lasting and supportive one, despite the ups and downs of the industry.
