Jenny McCarthy Says Ditching Vegan Life Made Her Feel 25 Again

Jenny McCarthy is turning back the clock, at least that’s how she feels after giving up her longtime vegan lifestyle.

The 52-year-old TV personality revealed she now feels like she’s 25 again after switching to a strict carnivore diet, ditching the plant-based meals she once swore by. In a candid interview with PEOPLE, she shared how going vegan actually wrecked her gut and made her constantly feel bloated, so badly, in fact, that her doctor warned she might need a colostomy bag if things didn’t improve.

Jenny said she turned to the carnivore diet as a last resort, even though she was completely against it at first. But after years of digestive misery, it became her only option. “My bloat was so bad that it always made me feel like I was about three months pregnant,” she said. And that wasn’t the worst of it. “I was a complicated person who only went to the bathroom once every 14 days,” she admitted. Yeah, 14 days.

At her doctor’s urging, she made the full switch to meat-based meals, and the results were instant. “I’ve got to tell you, it saved my gut. I go to the bathroom every single day now, and it made me feel like I was 25 again,” she said. Her long list of health problems, including Hashimoto’s disease, leaky gut syndrome, and celiac disease, had made things tough for years, but this diet change turned everything around.

And it wasn’t just her gut. Jenny said her skin cleared up and she dropped between 12 and 15 pounds in just a month. “All of my acne has cleared up,” she said. “If I showed you a picture of my face from even a year ago, it’s so different. I didn’t realize how swollen I was all the time.” But she also emphasized that you can’t do this halfway. “You can’t half-ass it,” she said of her new meat-focused lifestyle.

This transformation comes amid speculation that she was using weight loss drugs like Ozempic, which she firmly denies. Jenny previously spoke to Us Weekly, clearing the air and insisting her slim-down was all-natural, aside from a cosmetic AirSculpt procedure she used to target fat around her stomach.

She admitted aging hit her harder than she expected. “As women, we hear the ‘Oh no, when you get older you’re gonna get that tire on your belly. There’s nothing you can do’.” Jenny explained she always thought she’d beat it, especially since she was athletic growing up. “I’m like, ‘I played every sport. I’ve worked out forever. I’m not going to have that problem’.” But even with intermittent fasting and clean eating, her body wasn’t cooperating.

That’s when she went for AirSculpt, which she said helped shape her midsection and even fix her hands, which had been affected by aging. Still, she wants everyone to know her new energy, weight loss, and glowing skin came mostly from one radical change, saying goodbye to veganism and hello to steak, bacon, and all things meat.

Jenny’s story is a reminder that sometimes, doing what you think is healthy might not be what your body actually needs. Her message? Listen to your body, and don’t be afraid to flip the script if something isn’t working. Whether you’re into plants or meat, it’s about finding what actually makes you feel your best, even if that means rethinking everything you thought was “clean eating.”
