Katee Sackhoff is keeping Star Wars fans on their toes with a bold promise, Bo-Katan Kryze is far from done.
The 45-year-old actress, who has become a fan favorite in the galaxy far, far away thanks to her role across The Clone Wars, Rebels, and The Mandalorian, has confirmed that her Mandalorian warrior will definitely show up again in the franchise. While she may not suit up for The Mandalorian and Grogu movie, that doesn’t mean Bo-Katan is disappearing anytime soon. In fact, Sackhoff says she’s got “job security” thanks to a surprising connection, her character was inspired by Lucasfilm Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni’s wife.
In a recent chat with Screen Rant, Sackhoff cheekily revealed, “You will see her again in some form. That’s all you need to know. Dave Filoni cannot get rid of me, because Bo-Katan is based off of his wife.” That little detail alone might just guarantee her future in the saga, even if she hasn’t been “in the armor in 2025.” And sure, Bo-Katan hasn’t been officially confirmed for the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu film, but the timeline still leaves the door open for a possible appearance, especially since filming wrapped back in December.
And she’s not the only one stirring up return rumors. Giancarlo Esposito, who played the sinister Moff Gideon, is also teasing a potential comeback. He told Empire that he hopes to rejoin the franchise because there’s “more road” for his character. At Dragon Con, he hinted that The Mandalorian and Grogu might just kick off a whole new Star Wars trilogy. “As in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Disney will figure out how to join all of these characters into one really great movie or TV show,” he said, clearly seeing the bigger picture Filoni and Jon Favreau are sketching out.
Speaking of Favreau, he opened up about his mixed emotions over The Mandalorian’s transition to the big screen. In an interview with Collider, he admitted feeling “disappointed” that the series couldn’t be shared cinematically from the start, despite always looking and feeling “cinematic.” But with The Mandalorian and Grogu now getting the full blockbuster treatment, complete with a stacked cast including Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver, and Jeremy Allen White, it sounds like the sub-franchise is about to level up.
So, even if we don’t see Katee Sackhoff in The Mandalorian and Grogu, her Star Wars journey is still wide open. With a wink and a nod, she’s made it clear that Bo-Katan Kryze isn’t leaving our screens anytime soon, and fans have every reason to believe her.
