Lauren Silverman has offered a rare glimpse into life in the British countryside with Simon Cowell, confirming that even in a celebrity hotspot like the Cotswolds, most stars keep to themselves.
The couple, who purchased an £8 million farmhouse in Oxfordshire in 2021, might share the postcode with A-listers like David and Victoria Beckham, but that doesn’t mean they all hang out regularly.
In an interview with Closer UK magazine, Lauren, who shares 11-year-old son Eric with Simon, opened up about the reality of having famous neighbours. When asked about living near the Beckhams, she responded with a smile, “They are our neighbours!” But quickly added, “We keep ourselves to ourselves. We’re just … it’s not like a full compound of [celebs] there.”
Her comments shut down any assumptions of an ongoing celebrity commune in the area. It seems that despite the fame, the Cotswolds offers a chance at normalcy, or at least a little privacy.
Bruno Tonioli, known for judging alongside Simon on Britain’s Got Talent, also shared his take on their countryside setup. A regular guest at their farmhouse, Bruno said, “There’s a little group that get together. It’s good to keep what you do in your private life very separate. Nobody knows what’s going on and I like it that way.”
Lauren agreed, adding, “Bruno is like family to us. He is.” She went on to say that young Eric affectionately calls him “Uncle Bruno.”
The message is clear: the celebrities who’ve chosen to settle in the Cotswolds aren’t chasing the spotlight when they’re off the clock. Privacy seems to be the currency in the area.
And they’re not the only ones drawn to this rural escape. Other celebrities who have reportedly made the Cotswolds their home include Jeremy Clarkson and his wife Lisa, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, supermodel Kate Moss, Elizabeth Hurley, and actor Hugh Grant.
Despite the star-studded population, don’t expect to catch them all sipping coffee at the local pub together. The vibe is low-key and intentionally so.
Lauren Silverman’s comments give insight into a world where high-profile names seek low-profile lives. Whether it’s the sweeping views, quiet lanes, or the desire for a more grounded family life, it’s clear the appeal of the Oxfordshire countryside lies in its ability to let stars be ordinary, at least while they’re at home.
If you’re picturing celebrity-packed parties behind every Cotswold hedge, think again. According to those who actually live there, Cotswolds celebrities keep to themselves, and they prefer it that way.
