Nelly and Ashanti are officially bringing their love story to the small screen.
The newlywed power couple is set to star in a reality series called Nelly Ashanti: We Belong Together, which premieres this June on Peacock. The show dives deep into their second chance at love, their life as new parents, and the day-to-day chaos of being superstars trying to do marriage and family right. The series marks the next big step in their relationship, and fans are hyped to see this full-circle moment.
The show will feature eight 30-minute episodes and promises an up-close look at their life after secretly getting married in December 2023. It’s not just romance and glam either, they’re tackling real stuff like raising their baby boy, Kareem Kenkaide Haynes, who was born in July 2024, all while balancing music careers and big-time public attention. The couple will also executive produce the show, so expect a very personal, no-filter take on their journey.
According to the official press release, the series “follows the electrifying journey of this beloved couple as they reignite their love, navigate the ups and downs of newlywed life and the challenges of parenthood while juggling their thriving careers.” Basically, it’s going to be a mix of sweet, messy, fun, and very real. And with all the history they share, there’s no doubt fans are going to be hooked.
Nelly and Ashanti’s romance goes way back. They first started dating in 2003 after meeting at a Grammy press event and were together for nearly a decade before calling it quits in 2013. Fast forward to 2021, the two reunited onstage during the Verzuz battle between Ja Rule and Fat Joe, and by 2023, they’d confirmed they were back together. That reunion clearly meant business, they tied the knot in secret and welcomed a child just months later.
Talking about their unexpected reconciliation, Nelly previously said it wasn’t planned. In an interview on Boss Moves with Rasheeda, he explained how time apart gave them clarity. “Sometimes, being separate, you understand one another more,” he said. “We all can be defensive sometimes in our own relationships… We know we’re wrong, but we’re going to stand on it, you know what I mean?”
Now, with the spotlight back on their love story, the show could become one of the most talked-about celeb series of the year. Whether it’s baby moments, career struggles, or just watching them be goofy together, fans are in for a fun ride. Love really does get better the second time around.
