Growing up, Danni was surrounded by rock music and religion. The former developed her passion for writing while Catholicism developed into a strong inspiration for her creative avenues. “LU$T,” the sexually charged and silky debut single to be released under the moniker of DANNI X, was written with religious teaching at the forefront.

“My inspiration for ‘LU$T’ came from a lot of different experiences,” notes Danni. “I had a very Catholic upbringing and this has becoming a large source of lyrical inspiration for me. Although I am not Catholic myself, I’ve always been fascinated by their version of the apocalypse and how this tied into their ‘seven deadly sins.’ The Catholic Church lists Lust as the worst of them all. In my opinion, it’s the one that is the least harmful and is simply part of being human.”

We caught up Danni X, and spoke to her about LU$T, and how rock music and religion has influenced her.

T.H.E – Hey! How’s it going and what have you been up to?

Danni X – Hi there! It’s been going good! Just assembling my internal team and trying to push this EP. All super exciting though. Learning a lot.

T.H.E – Loving your single – LU$T. How did it come about?

Danni X – A combination of things! Skepticism of my very religious upbringing – moving to Los Angeles, and internal conflict between wrong and right.

T.H.E – When you were young, you were surrounded by rock music and religion. How has this impacted the music that you write and release?

Danni X – Well – expect some religious undertones in my lyrics and elements of rock complimenting an otherwise modern & electronic production.

T.H.E – How do you plan to connect rock and dance music, in every music that you release in the future?

Danni X – That is definitely the goal! But I would say some songs will probably skew more rock while others electronic. Depending on the vibe. For instance, my next single is def much more angsty and rock – but has a really cool bass drop you would hear in any EDM songs – but has guitar over it making it quite the banger.

T.H.E – What are your plans for 2018 on the touring and production front?

Danni X – Planning on writing and recording a ton of new material, and will certainly be jumping on any tour opportunity will presents itself. Would love to start opening up for some bigger acts. Hopefully I’ll be able to secure something soon.

T.H.E – Time for some fun ones, what is your favorite movie quote?

Danni X – Haha well it’s a book and a movie quote from “On The Road” by Jack Keruoac

T.H.E – If you were guaranteed to be successful in a different profession, what would you want to do?

Danni X – I would love to be an ethnographer, or anything that involves writing and traveling.

T.H.E – What fictional character do you wish you could meet?

Danni X – Daenerius Targaryen from Game Of Thrones – my life would be complete

T.H.E – Who is your celebrity crush?

Danni X – Celebrity crush, hmmm, James Franco. He’s hot and funny – works for me

T.H.E – If you could have dinner with any historical figure, whom would you choose?

Danni X – Jim Morrison from The Doors.
