Giuseppe Magnatti

Giuseppe Magnatti is half Italian and half American, he started his musical career at 15 getting inspired by the blue sea of his home town Gaeta (Italy) and he keeps the same inspirations with him today while worldwide cruising on world’s largest cruise ships (he is also a cruise line bridge officer!).

These are the keys about his deep, fresh and insightful beats inspirations. He delivers to all house lovers the experience that made house music standout years ago, thanks to the diligent mix of rare sounds, vintage synthesizers and soulful voices.

T.H.E – Welcome Giuseppe. It’s a pleasure to have you here. How did you hook up with Willis White for your new single ‘Around You’?

Giuseppe Magnatti – We met 2 years ago when Willis was guest entertaining on the same ship I was at the time. We chatted about our mutual music tastes and played each other some of our work (we both also happen to travel with a reduced version of our recording gears). He really dug my mixes and beat progressions, and I felt the same about his vocal stylings and harmonization in his compositions. The musical chemistry was there to brew a few sick ones together. This year we made it happen when Willis sent a tune along, harmonized the back vocals, doo-wap’d the beat, and I set it to our first single together. We cycled and tweaked it back and forth, and we are now proudly releasing “Around You” on Bewild Records!

T.H.E – Can we expect more music like this from you in the future?

Giuseppe Magnatti – You can expect a few more from us like this shortly

T.H.E – We understand that you are a Cruise line Bridge officer. Is it hard to juggle a full time job like this and music?! It is certainly a new mix on us!

Giuseppe Magnatti – I have to admit that is really difficult. In the beginning, when I finished attending school, I tried to do that as my first job, however the money was not enough. So, I started working as a carpenter on a construction sight. After a few months, I understood it wasn’t the way as I was required to wake up early in the mornings whilst trying to DJ in the evenings. It was then that I started working on ships to create a bigger income which meant I could buy more tools and equipment and to get more time to dedicate to my favorite hobby. When I am on vacation, I dedicate my time to creating and producing music. When I’m away from my studio and cruising the world seas, I try to keep up to date with the industry. Then, when I am back home I am up to date and ready to continue my passion. My laptop and some gears are always cruising with me.

T.H.E – Who are your musical inspirations?

Giuseppe Magnatti – I guess maybe my dad, he was a professional painter. Although he wasn’t a musician, I always felt this great artistic gift and passion which I wanted to express in a different way. I started playing soccer at a young age, but after a sporting injury I could not play at a professional level anymore. So, I found myself becoming more involved in music and I felt particularly drawn to being a DJ

T.H.E – What are your top 3 locations across the globe in terms of dance music culture?

Giuseppe Magnatti – I am not going to be obvious, NEW YORK, NAPLES and my BEDROOM

T.H.E – What has been the highlight of 2016 so far?

Giuseppe Magnatti – 2016 has been a great year, 16 being my lucky number. I got a promotion at work. I have a new studio and I have released a number of tracks I’m proud of (especially ‘Around You’)

T.H.E – What’s in store for 2017?

Giuseppe Magnatti – I’m going to continue making some new music and hopefully DJ in some cool venues.

T.H.E – What have you been up to outside of the studio and away from music?

Giuseppe Magnatti – When I’m not at the studio, I work, go to the gym, go out to visit new places depending where the ship is and enjoy testing great food.
