Ralph Felix

Signed to Axwell’s Axtone management and with a raft of quality tunes coming out over the summer, Ralph Felix is a name to keep an eye on this year.

His new single has just been released and we caught up with Ralph to speak about this, and more.

T.H.E – Hi Ralph! We love the vibe of your new single ‘No Excuses’. You must be super happy with the result and collaboration? How did you hook up with Anton Ewald?

Ralph Felix – Thank you so much! That is great to hear and means a lot! Yes in matter of fact I am super happy about the final product, I’m stoked that the song is finally out there. It was my management (Axtone) who set me up with Anton’s vocals. When I first heard the “No Excuses” vocal by Anton it completely blew my socks off, I just had to work on it! After I finished the song I met up with Anton in person in Los Angeles, such a great and humble guy!

T.H.E – How would you describe your current sound?

Ralph Felix – I would definitely describe the Ralph Felix sound as vocal friendly dance music!

T.H.E – What’s the best piece of new music you have heard this week?

Ralph Felix – Definitely Eden Prince his new remix of “Bazzi – Mine” I think its super strong, well done!

T.H.E – How did electronic music first enter your world?

Ralph Felix – When I was a kid back in the early 2000’s I started DJ’ing at school parties with friends, at that time Chocolate Puma and Mambana (Axwell) came around the corner releasing great songs like I Wanna Be U and No Reason, I was completely hooked when I heard those songs for the first time.

T.H.E – What were your early musical inspirations?

Ralph Felix – Like mentioned before definitely Chocolate Puma and Mambana, but later on also Axwell and Junior Jack. I just really loved those vocal groove songs back then, they just made me feel great and made me wanna dance!

T.H.E – Was your dream always to make it in the world of music or was there ever anything else that interested you career wise?

Ralph Felix – I am not sure if a lot of people know this but I also had a career in real estate back in the day in my home town Amsterdam, this was before the music picked up. But dance music has always and always will be my main passion!

T.H.E – Do you prefer to DJ/perform or make music in the studio?

Ralph Felix – I get this question a lot and to be honest its actually impossible to choose either one. The fact is that the one cannot live without the other in my opinion. Whenever I am out there playing and touring, after a few weeks I just have to be back in the studio to translate the inspiration I got from the crowd. After being a few weeks in the studio I just love to get back in that plane and test the new songs that I made on the crowd!

T.H.E – Where’s been your favourite venue to DJ at so far in your career?

Ralph Felix – I would have to say Ushuaia Ibiza, that place is just so magical! When you warm up for Axwell & Ingrosso and the sun sets behind the palm trees and you have all those beautiful people dancing to your music, that’s just the best feeling in the world!

T.H.E – What three tracks are smashing it in the clubs for you right now?

1. Robin Schulz ft. James Blunt – OK (Ralph Felix Remix)

2. MK – 17

3. Antoine Delvig & Felicity – Jack That Body

T.H.E – What’s up next for Ralph Felix?

Ralph Felix – There a lot of new music dropping this year in different shapes and sizes so stay tuned!
