We caught up with the duo to discuss their experience of playing at Tomorrowland Brasil, their ‘Sexy By Nature’ concept, their collab, “S.O.T.U” by Nicky Romero, favourite cuisine and plenty more. Have a read.

T.H.E – We know you Guys met each other in 2006. How did it all kick off?

Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano – We met each other when we starting working in the same clothing store. We got along really well and we noticed our musical preferences were really similar. At one point we decided that it would be really cool to make something more out of this, so we did.

T.H.E – You attend a lot of countries every year in terms of touring. How do you manage to keep up with so many events? If you had to name your top 3 venues, which ones would it be?

Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano – We try to get as much sleep as we can on the plane and as well in the hotels obviously, but sometimes we need some time off. The top three best venues would be Hakkasan, where we have our residency in Vegas. Ushuaia at Ibiza and lastly LIV in Miami.

T.H.E – How was the experience of playing at the first ever edition of Tomorrowland Brasil?

Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano – It was awesome to be part of this huge festival. We had such a great time over there and hey, when you’re playing back to back with Laidback Luke and Dannic, that’s pretty epic right?

T.H.E – You Guys also played a part at the Super You & Me stage which is conceptualized by Laidback Luke at Tomorrowland Brasil. What do you think of this concept?

Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano – It’s really awesome, everyone dresses up and that adds to the whole experience of letting yourself go at a festival. Laidback Luke has created a sort of getaway from daily life with Super You&Me and that is a really awesome thing to achieve.

T.H.E – Tell us a bit more about the ‘Sexy By Nature’ concept you Guys conceptualized along with ALDA events. What’s next?

Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano – We’re doing a couple of shows in Vegas over the next few months and that’s really cool! And in the past, we had some awesome events too, we did a weekender in the Netherlands and a poolparty in Miami. There’s definitely a lot of cool things coming up.

T.H.E – We absolutely loved your collaboration with Nicky Romero, “Sound Of The Underground”. The most unique thing about this track is arguably the title itself. How did the collaboration and the title come about?

Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano – The collaboration came about because we met each other a couple of times and hit it off, we got along so we decided to head into the studio together. We came up with the name Sound of the Underground because this track wasn’t like the mainstream sound that was popular at the time you know.

T.H.E – Recently, you played at Holland’s famed Kingsday celebrations. How was this year’s edition different to previous editions?

Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano – To be honest, it doesn’t really change that much. Everyone just goes out and has an amazing time during the day. It’s like a gigantic festival throughout the whole country, it’s one of the best days of the year!

T.H.E – Do you follow any sport? If yes, who is your favourite team/player?

Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano – We follow soccer, and obviously we support the team from our hometown, Ajax.

T.H.E – You have collaborated with a lot of talented producers. If you had to name your three favourite collabs?

Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano –

With Nicky Romero – S.O.T.U

Our track with Leroy Styles – Karusell

And lastly, our collab with KiFi, the vocals in that track are amazing and working together was a lot of fun.

T.H.E – Favourite cuisine

Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano – We like meat! A big nice steak is really the best there is, we even have a restaurant together in Amsterdam called W36 and it has a butcher in the restaurant.

T.H.E – Producing or DJing?

Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano – DJ’ing, producing is a lot of fun, but when you’re dj’ing you have the interaction with the crowd and it’s more of an experience than when you’re producing.

T.H.E – Thanks Guys!
