For the third installment of NYC-based artist Chris McClenney’s highly anticipated debut solo EP, ‘Portrait In Two’, McClenney has revealed the project’s second original single titled “Headlines.”

Showcasing his skills as a producer, singer / songwriter, engineer, and multi-instrumentalist, “Headlines” is a R&B and soul fusion whose lyrical content listeners will find starkly relevant in our current social climate. Sonically, this one will find a welcome home among fans of artists like Kaytranada and Jesse Boykins III.

Out January 13th, the ‘Portrait In Two’ EP features ten original tracks produced, performed, arranged, and mixed entirely by McClenney while still in college in New York at NYU. All the tracks feature his own vocals and a myriad of instruments that include piano, keyboards, bass guitar, electric guitar, drums/percussion, clarinet, and drum programming.

For those unfamiliar with McClenney, the 23-year-old artist has already established a reputation as an in-demand producer/DJ thanks to releases on Soulection, production for artists including D.R.A.M, and virally charting remixes. Last month, he released the first single off the EP titled “Otherside,” and the single was met with critical praise with outlets including Fader, KCRW, NEST HQ, DJ Booth, Solange’s Saint Heron, and more, showing eager support. He also threw it back to the electronic music foundation many associate with his sound by producing two original remixes of his own tracks “Tell Me” and “Pearl.”

Still to come, McClenney is also gearing up for the EP’s official release party on January 14th at NYC’s esteemed Blue Note Jazz Club where he will be performing live. Show details and tickets here.
