Cosmic Boys are back on their record label Legend with an exhilarating techno single called “Midnight” that has been made in collaboration with Matteo Vitanza.
‘Midnight’ is a perfect example of the Cosmic Boys style, as it’s got hard-hitting percussion and dark atmospherics combined with spine-tingling synths. It’s true to the style that they have released on other labels ranging from Adam Beyer’s Drumcode to Monika Kruse’s Terminal M. It also has euphoric elements that are reminiscent of the “Cafe Del Mar” remix they recently released.
Matteo Vitanza has been making waves with releases on a number of highly respected techno record labels including Legend. He also recently collaborated on a track with UMEK, and the Cosmic Boys are the latest artists to team up with him. He is a talented producer who is clearly earning the respect of established techno producers who want to help develop his skills via collaboration.
After an eerie opening, “Midnight” bursts into the meat of the groove which is powered by a rattling bassline and hammering kick drum. Bursts of acid and teased euphoric pads help build suspense as the track progresses towards the tranquillity of an uplifting breakdown. After the breakdown, the drums are reintroduced, and the track lifts in intensity to deliver a knock-out punch.
It’s another top-notch track from the Cosmic Boys, and further proof that Matteo Vitanza is a star in the making.
