Drone Warfare

Embarking on one of his most ambitious years to date, 2017 saw Portland-based producer EPROM release a non-stop stream of music in the form of two EP’s, ‘Pineapple’ and collaborative EP ‘Acid Disk’ with G Jones.

Not quite finished yet, the renowned producer whose experimental sound has drawn comparisons to pioneers like Aphex Twin, is now ready to make his final mark on the year with a new EP titled ‘Drone Warfare.’

Out today via Alix Perez’s 1985 Music, EPROM’s third EP this year picks up where the other two left off fully showcasing EPROM’s signature sound that Resident Advisor describes as “meshing the rude with the avant garde.” Kicking off with raucous boom-bap stunner “Oksana,” the project hears EPROM launch into a multi-dimensional composition, traversing through the moody glitch of “Raw Data,” all the way through the wobble-laden hype beast “Full Mag.” Finally, the EP’s standout title track acts as the crowning piece of the project with it’s myriad of sound elements, experimental melodies, and impressively robust soundscape. Having already won the praise of tastemakers including MixMag, Earmilk, and NEST HQ, This Song Is Sick put it best with this suggestion: “…it is highly recommended blasting this on some speakers that can handle some serious low-end.”

If unfamiliar with EPROM before now, over the course of his career, EPROM has been awarded numerous critical accolades and support among his peers from artists including Flume, Aphex Twin, Bassnectar, Flying Lotus, ?uestlove, DJ Shadow, Rustie, Machinedrum, Rezz, G Jones, and more. His now extensive discography includes two studio albums, over seven EP’s, singles via some of electronic music’s most revered labels including Warp, Rwina, Surefire, Cloak x Dagger, Bad Acid, and more, official remixes for acts like The Glitch Mob, a collaborative EP with Barclay Crenshaw (aka Claude VonStroke,) and even a side project called Shades with Alix Perez.

Currently EPROM is embarking on a national tour alongside G Jones in support of their ‘Acid Disk’ EP through February 2018 (More info on that here). Upcoming, EPROM’s ‘Pineapple’ EP title-single will be getting an official remix from Bassnectar and be featured on Nectar’s ‘Reflector’ Pt.2 EP, out in December.
