Habstrakt is busting 2020 wide open by unveiling one of the most demanded IDs from his live sets of late.

Back in July, the L.A.-based house sensation came in blazing hot with his label debut on Gud Vibrations, “De La Street,” a booming bit built around that bassline grit Habstrakt has on lock. Now, he’s ready to unleash the follow-up “Free,” an untethered bass house joint that was born from a spark of inspiration that struck while prepping for one of his massive festival gigs in August.

“Excited to start the year with this release on my good friends’ label Gud Vibrations,” says Habstrakt. “Last summer, I was trying to write an intro for my Hard Summer set and I ended up writing this entire song the day before the show. I stayed up all night to get it done. I arrived at the festival on zero sleep, and this was the first time playing this song that I had just finished a few hours before. The crowd reaction was just insane.”

After endless pleading from fans who were itching for him to drop this secret weapon, Habstrakt is finally obliging in the best way possible. He hits us with a behemoth record, which is riddled with rumbling bottom-end, shuffling drum programming, skittering synths, a trapped-out breakdown, and a commanding vocal sitting at the core.
