Novado

The eternal Dance music anthem that is ‘Push The Feeling On’ has now been given the Novado remix treatment.

Adding fuel to an already explosive original track, he has managed to incite more power and emotion whilst keeping the addictive elements of the Nightcrawlers classic. We wanted to learn more about how Novado did it, so we caught up with him to chat about his remix!

T.H.E – So Novado – what gave you the idea for this remix?

Novado – First of all this is a track that I absolutely love and I consider it a real classic. The main reason I wanted to remix the track was actually because I couldn’t find a suitable version of it to play in my sets! I love mixing in dance classics in my sets every now and then, both as a tribute and as a way of reminding and educating newer crowds about them. With this particular track I couldn’t find a remix that worked for my sets, so I wanted to remix it myself to have a version that I could play.

T.H.E – It’s a really great release; do you think it’s a sign of things to come in the future for you, and does it sum up your style of music?

Novado – Thanks a lot! Style wise it’s definitely close to my coming releases, there’s that touch of UK House and Classic House that I love using in my tracks, mixed with influences from more contemporary styles.

T.H.E – Do you have any particular influences you think are noticeable in the tracks?

Novado – Definitely, since I have a background in DJing a lot of my influences in producing come from artists and record labels that have inspired me over the years. The style that’s really inspired me the most in my recent tracks is the style that, at least me personally, I associate with a lot of Hed Kandi’s releases.

This particular release is a bit clubbier and also has a wider range of influences. A lot of it obviously comes from the UK House sound, but you can also hear influences from styles like Future House and even Acid in the drop of the track.

T.H.E – How long did it take to complete the track from start to finish?

Novado – The first version I made of the track came together pretty fast, over just a few days I think. It’s been reworked a couple of times since though, both after trying it out during club gigs and after getting feedback from different places. From the first version to the last one it’s probably been about 2 months!

T.H.E – Do you have anything else forthcoming we can get excited about hearing?

Novado – Definitely! There should be at least 3 tracks coming out pretty soon – a remix, an original track and a collaboration track I’m working on that is pretty much finished.

T.H.E – Do you have a method to starting tracks and was this unique or similar to usual?

Novado – In general, I always start with the melodic parts of a track and start out by writing the chords or the melody.
When doing remixes I usually start out deciding what parts of the original track I want to use in the remix. With this particular track it was obviously the classic vocal sample but also partly the melody, which was re-worked a bit with the goal of creating a more powerful drop-oriented track, rather than the groove-based style that the original is in.

T.H.E – Obviously this track is a classic; do you think you’ve done it justice? And what do you think Nightcrawlers would say about your remix?

Novado – Those are two very difficult questions to answer! I’ve obviously re-worked the track a lot, so it might not be for everyone, but the goal has been more to create a powerful club version of the track with elements from the original too. With tracks that have been around for a long time, I think it’s more fun for the listeners and the crowds on the dance floor to hear a more re-worked version of it too. I honestly have no idea what the Nightcrawlers opinion of the track would be, but I hope that they’ll simply find it interesting to hear their track in a new version – that’s how I would see it!
