Denver-based experimental bass producer and violinist Josh Teed has made a name for himself through his distinct approach to electronic music.

Blending expertly crafted, left-of-center bass sound design, symphonic instrumentation, and lush, ethereal atmospheres, Josh Teed’s style has led him to touring slots with big name bass acts such as CloZee, Dirtwire, and Koan Sound; a performance at a Pretty Lights Official Pre Party; releases on influential label Gravitas; and collaborations with artists such as Chmura, Notlö, and more.

Now, following the release of his 2022 full-length album Recurring Dream and subsequent remix album, Josh Teed is revving up towards his next EP, Taking It All In – a 6-track package being released via The Gradient Perspective Records.

Filled to the brim with cinematic electronic stylings and Teed’s signature bass production, the artist designed his new EP to be a reflection of his life journey thus far. Having grown up in New Hampshire, lived in Vietnam as a basketball player and coach, and then entered the music industry as a bass music disruptor, Taking It All In represents a rumination on life’s twists and turns – and acts a reminder to cherish every moment and embrace whatever might come your way.

Today, Josh Teed unveils the EP’s lead single, “Just Breathe,” a collaboration with rapper Chuuwee and vocalist Blūm. Replete with dreamy textures, playful instrumentation, and striking vocal performances, “Just Breathe” combines Josh Teed’s hazy, atmospheric essence with a dose of hip-hop swagger.

Inspired by the whirlwind pace of Josh Teed’s last tour, “Just Breathe” is a reminder about the importance of stillness and taking a second to breathe, delivering this message through the song’s structure.

The track starts with wonky synth pads mixed with soulful keyboard chords and piano melodies before phasing in an off-kilter boom-bap hip-hop beat underneath Chuuwee’s rapid-fire intro verse. With an instrumental filled with plucky synth notes and deep bass accompanying Chuuwee’s buttery flow, the first section of “Just Breathe” represents a sudden rush burst.

Then, Blūm’s angelic vocals float on top of heavenly piano playing, which embodies the act of breathing. Finally, in the track’s final section, layers of futuristic synths, chopped-up 808s, and intricate drum programming combine in a cacophony of elements that wash over the listener, reflecting the reprieve of relaxation.

As a result, Josh Teed’s new EP retains many of the elements his fans have grown to love while pushing his sound into new directions. With a further emphasis on melodic expression, lead vocals, and granular synthesis, Taking It All In seamlessly blends pop sensibilities with intricate production flourishes, a combination that marks a new sonic turn in Teed’s career.

In addition to revealing his upcoming EP, Josh Teed is also announcing his third-ever headlining nationwide tour, where fans will be able to see the artist perform “Just Breathe” and other tracks from Taking It All In. With stops across the country in cities such as Chicago, San Francisco, Charlotte, and Denver, this upcoming set of dates will see Teed oscillate between drum pad, synthesizers, and violin for an immersive production unlike anything seen from the artist before.

On this upcoming tour, Josh Teed is also continuing a tradition of giving back to local and global communities, which he strives to do on every tour. For his Colorado dates, he will be partnering up with Boredom Fighters – an organization that sets up production workshops for underserved youth. With the support of the label, The Gradient Perspective, his management team at Mammoth Music Group and his talent agency ETP Agency, they will also be donating 20 trees per tour date through One Tree Planted, an organization that aims to restore forests, create habitat for biodiversity, and make a positive social impact around the world.
