Lady Gaga laughs off mic fail during Coachella set, and fans can’t stop talking about how effortlessly she handled it.
While headlining her second weekend at Coachella on April 18 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, Gaga faced a microphone glitch during “Abracadabra,” just the second song in her set. But instead of letting it throw her off, she grabbed a handheld mic, clutched her cane in the other hand, and kept performing like the icon she is.
The crowd barely had time to process the issue before she was back in action, continuing her performance without any hesitation. A new headset mic eventually made its way back to her, and she slipped right back into her usual setup like nothing had happened. It was one of those classic “the show must go on” moments, and Gaga owned it completely.
Later on, seated at her piano, she addressed the glitch with a laugh. “I’m sorry my mic was broken for a second. At least you know I sing live,” she joked, drawing loud cheers from fans. She added, “I guess all we can do is our best, and I’m certainly giving you my best tonight.” It was the kind of real, unfiltered moment that fans live for-and a solid reminder that Gaga doesn’t need tech to prove her talent.
This Coachella set marked Gaga’s big return to the festival since her 2017 performance, when she stepped in for Beyoncé at the last minute. And this time around, she brought serious heat. The nearly two-hour set included throwbacks like “Judas” and “Poker Face,” along with new tracks from her Mayhem album like “Disease” and “How Bad Do U Want Me?” It was a career-spanning performance that showed she’s still evolving, still bold, and still knows how to dominate a festival stage.
She’s in good company too-Coachella 2025 has been packed with massive names like Green Day, Post Malone, Travis Scott, BLACKPINK’s Lisa and Jennie, Missy Elliott, Megan Thee Stallion, Ed Sheeran, Tyla, Charli XCX, FKA twigs, and more. But Gaga’s ability to turn a glitch into a moment is what set her apart.
Coachella runs through April 20, and with moments like this one, it’s clear this year’s edition is one for the books. Gaga didn’t just perform-she proved once again that she’s one of the best live performers in the world.
