Lola Young is making waves in the music industry, leading the charge at the 2025 Ivor Novello Awards with three major nominations.
The 24-year-old singer has been nominated for Best Album, Best Song Musically and Lyrically, and the Rising Star Award. It’s a massive year for Lola, who released her second studio album, This Wasn’t Meant For You Anyway, in 2024. She’s now up against heavyweights like Charli XCX, Ghetts, Jordan Rakei, and BERWYN in the Best Album category.
The Rising Star Award is always an exciting one, and Lola finds herself alongside other rising talents like Bea and her Business, Liang Lawrence, LULU., and Nia Smith. This nomination is a testament to her growing influence in the music scene. With such fierce competition in the Best Album category, Lola has her work cut out for her, but fans are rooting for her every step of the way.
RAYE, Ghetts, and Conor Dickinson also earned multiple nominations, with RAYE standing out in both the Most Performed Work and Best Song Musically and Lyrically categories. As the Ivors celebrate their 70th year, the excitement is palpable, with music creators and fans alike eagerly anticipating the awards ceremony.
This year’s awards are packed with an exciting range of nominations. Jade Thirlwall, known for her time with Little Mix, received a nod for her solo debut single Angel of My Dreams in the Best Contemporary Song category. And Wham!, the iconic band founded by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley, scored a nomination for their timeless hit Last Christmas, competing against global stars like Harry Styles and Dua Lipa for the Most Performed Work award.
Tom Gray, the chair of The Ivors Academy, shared his excitement, calling the Ivors the most joyful celebration of music-making. “It’s a huge privilege for The Ivors Academy to champion music creation in all its forms,” he said, and there’s no doubt this year’s nominees, including Lola, represent the very best in the industry.
The winners will be announced on May 22 at Grosvenor House in London. The 2025 Ivors are set to be a night to remember, full of music, talent, and celebration.
