Lorenzo Morresi, the Milan-based multi-instrumentalist, has just launched his new label, Minus Me Plus World, with an exciting release: the Nonsense EP.
Released on April 16, this EP showcases his signature blend of experimental, electronic, and organic sounds, all crafted from his travels and collaborations with musicians worldwide.
‘Nonsense’ is a perfect representation of Morresi’s approach to music. It brings together funk, jazz, and electronic sounds, creating something entirely new. The EP features a mix of old-school analog synths, distorted bass lines, and an array of percussion techniques. From funky guitar rhythms to electro-samba, the EP covers a diverse range of sounds. The track “Tucu Taca,” released earlier on April 1st, uses a rhythmic chant that may seem nonsensical at first but quickly transforms into an electrifying percussion-driven anthem. Think of it as a warm-up for a festival of beats that never stops.
Another track, Giungla, is a darker ride. It’s loaded with distorted drums and glitchy vocals, offering a shadowy landscape of experimental sounds. The track is like a mash-up of Nine Inch Nails and a twisted carnival ride, with a groove that hooks you right in. Then there’s the title track, Nonsense, which was recorded using vintage Italian synthesizers at Museo Del Synth Marchigiano. The bass on this track is absolutely mind-blowing, created using the Synket, the world’s first portable synth-an iconic piece of music history.
To top things off, Nonsense gets an exciting remix by Francisco, an Italian pioneer in the electroclash scene. He flips the track in a completely fresh direction, creating a version that will definitely get you sharing it with friends.
With all four tracks, Lorenzo brings his intricate rhythmic patterns and unmatched production skills to the forefront. Every instrument is expertly played by Morresi himself, proving his versatility and exceptional talent as a multi-instrumentalist.
This EP isn’t just a listen; it’s an experience. If you want to catch Morresi live, be sure to check him out this summer, where he’ll be spinning plates in a solo performance like no other-each one a true Italian masterpiece.
