A dancefloor love song giving off a golden glow is the result of Melsen linking with Germany’s Flexxus, the kindred spirits having found one another on SoundCloud.

‘Try Again’, released on Dutch label Be Yourself Music, packs the punch of rising rave pianos and flowing bass, met with tropical pop flavours flooding through – a seesaw backing synth and soft but strong vocals keep the vibes balanced. Feelgood but never flimsy, it’s another Melsen classic of dancing cheek to cheek while hands are raised all around.

“It’s good to listen to music that lifts your spirits and gives you a positive vibe” – given his run of beats so far in 2021, Melsen is comprehensively backing up his argument. There’s the sunkissed ‘You’, which reached the Nexus Dance chart and later received the remix treatment from Lee Morris; the release of joy found on ‘Alone’, also on Be Yourself Music, hitting the upper end of Beatport’s Future House chart and featured as MixMarathon track of the week on SLAM!; and ‘Try Again’ now reaffirming Melsen’s understanding of how to balance the purposeful with the emotional, leading to R3hab, Sam Feldt, Don Diablo, DANNIC, Going Deeper and Lucas & Steve all showing their appreciation.

Melsen prides himself on groovy basslines, funky melodies a sunny outlook and remembering that “the most important thing is to go into your studio and mess around”.

It’s a mentality that has collected credit from Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Nicky Romero, R3hab, David Guetta, Hardwell, Alesso, Martin Garrix and Bingo Players.
