Following a slew of well-received singles, Belgian D&B pioneer Murdock releases his second album ‘X-Ray’ via Rampage Recordings, his most ambitious project to date.

First developing the backbone of the project over COVID when lockdown offered a period of reflection, Murdock dips into every style of D&B on the project and showcases his ability to transform decades on the scene into a fresh sound very much rooted in the times. Recent single off the album Living In The Moment feat. Émilie Rachel saw UK radio support from KISS FM and followed collaboration with Bristol rising star Ruth Royall Cola, which received extensive play from the likes of Charlie Tee and Scott Mill’s Party Anthems show on BBC Radio 1.

The founder, owner, CEO and resident of Rampage, the world’s biggest D&B and dubstep party, Murdock has proven himself a renaissance man on the scene with the passion to match. He first developed a love for music sifting through funk and soul catalogues containing the likes of Sade, Prince, Marvin Gaye, Sly Stone, and Michael Jackson as a teenager. Nurturing an affection for hip hop samples from the likes of Public Enemy, De La Soul, and NWA was the catalyst for his introduction to D&B production. Purposefully mixing hip hop records on 90s turntables off-beat so the drums clashed led to the discovery that the Uk already had a name for the chaotic style: jungle music.

To this day, Murdock’s DJ sets still contain the ethos of musical discovery, traversing the entire spectrum of D&B with performances featuring neuro, liquid, jump up and more accompanied by his signature triple drops. He’s played at world-renowned festivals like Tomorrowland, EDC Las Vegas, Hospitality In The Park, Let It Roll, Balaton Sound, Pukkelpop, and more.

The success of Rampage has been the crown jewel of part of his career, exploding with the likes of SaSaSaS, Dirtyphonics, Upgrade, Fox Stevenson and AC13 and selling over 35,000 tickets annually for their weekend edition shows and 50,000 tickets for their Open Air Festival, which often features Murdock playing across 4 different sets.

In addition to running a weekly show on national radio for 15 years, Murdock boasts releases on labels like Total Science’s CIA Recordings, Bryan Gee’s V Recordings, Ant TC1’s Dispatch Recordings, Futuerebound’s Viper Recordings, Liquicity Records and Monstercat. His discography is no less impressive, including remixes for Rudimental, Duke Dumont, Gorgon City and Delta Heavy with his debut album Stronger amassing over 18M streams and over 12M streams on standout track Can’t Keep Me Down.

The formidable producer and renaissance man now presents an impressive body of work that reflects the changing times we live in and demonstrates decades of production prowess. The album features a wide array of artists such as son of legendary Lee “ Scratch” Perry Omar Perry, rising star Ruth Royall, exciting newcomer Involver, anonymous bass music regular Medyk, and previous collaborators Sena Dagadu and Émilie Rachel. A high octane and diverse collection with serious depth, ‘X-Ray’ is all the best of D&B.

Murdock- ‘X-Ray’ is out now via Rampage Recordings.
