Following her packed-out performance at Monstercat Compound last month, bass house queen Nostalgix makes her highly anticipated debut on the label and is joining forces with hip-hop/sugar trap rapper and songwriter Rico Nasty for “WAR” – out on September 29 on Monstercat.

Known for her girly punk, dubbed Sugar Trap, Rico Nasty has been disrupting the hip-hop space with the same vengeance as Nostalgix in the dance world – shattering glass ceilings and leaving the shards of the patriarchy behind them.

“WAR” breaks all the rules as Nostalgix and Rico Nasty combine their talents for an energetic and empowering collaboration. The track pulsates with Nostalgix’s signature sassy bass house, while Rico Nasty’s raw vocals inject an unmistakable attitude into every verse. Catchy hooks draw you into the track, and Rico Nasty’s lyrical depth adds substance as she touches on themes of empowerment and resilience.

On the significance of the track, Nostalgia adds; “To me, WAR is the evolution of Nostalgix. It’s the evolution of me as an artist and the evolution of my sound. With WAR, I wanted to make a record that embodied power and drive. I wanted to make a record that you could blast and feel like you can take over the world. Like nothing can stop you.

When I was producing WAR, I wanted to bring a lot of elements of drama and energy to really bring power to the record. I got into the studio with the talented Rico Nasty and we went in on vocals for the record. I absolutely love Rico, I think what she’s doing is so sick. She’s an artist that is so uniquely herself, she brings such a badass energy with all of her music and her performances.”

“WAR” just marks the beginning of Nostalgix’s journey with Monstercat, watch this space for more information to come.
