Dallas-based producer Perry Wayne returns for his eighth release on NGHTMRE and SLANDER’s Gud Vibrations imprint, joining forces with Montreal’s FutureExit.
The blistering collaboration “Problem” shows the potent pairing crafting a rambunctious riddim offering that’s primed to destroy stages. The track serves as an immediate follow-up and the A-side of Wayne’s most recent single “Code.”
Perry Wayne and FutureExit combine their talents on a troublemaking track aptly titled “Problem.” The heavy-hitting single is a relentless fusion of metal and hip-hop elements interspersed through a devastating dubstep core. Clocking in at just over two minutes, the high-octane heater wastes no time. Hazy raps quickly drift into focus as snappy drums and combat-ready “watch your mouth” samples are overlaid. Glitchy flourishes and a computerized pre-drop vocal set the tone for the menacing industrial assault that follows. Thrashing guitar riffs, screaming vox, screeching metallic grinds, laser sequences, and dark pulsing low-end score the cataclysmic drops. With little time to spare, the track pushes forward with a sense of ever-evolving mayhem and brilliant sound design. The familiar rap bars drift back in for the closing, offering a braggadocious swagged-out finale that feels like a final bout of trash talk after an epic knockout.
FutureExit offers insight into how the heavy-hitting collaboration came to be, saying, “Perry and I met a little over a year ago through some mutual friends. We both loved each other’s musical style and talked about working on a song together shortly after being introduced. When Perry made his headline debut in Montreal; I was his direct support for the show. This gave us the perfect opportunity to get working on the collab so we could premiere it at the show. Since then, the song has been a staple in our sets, and always gets the crowd moving! I’m so stoked that this one is finally coming out.
