Playboi Carti’s highly anticipated third studio album, MUSIC, has made an explosive debut, setting a new Spotify record for the most-streamed album in a single day in 2025.

Released on March 14, the album has already cemented itself as one of the biggest music events of the year.

Spotify’s Announcement

The streaming giant confirmed the record-breaking achievement on social media, writing, “Carti’s MUSIC is already making history.” To support the rollout, Spotify launched promotional billboards in major cities, including Los Angeles, New York City, and Miami, featuring slogans like “STREETS READY,” “SORRY4 DA WAIT,” and “I AM MUSIC MF.”

Star-Studded Collaborations & Production

The 30-track album is packed with major features and top-tier producers:

  • Featured Artists: Young Thug, Travis Scott, Future, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Lil Uzi Vert, Skepta, Ty Dolla $ign.
  • Producers: Metro Boomin, Southside, Cardo, F1lthy, Ye, Cash Cobain, and production duo Ojivolta, among others.

Hit Singles & Chart Success

The album was led by the single “All Red,” which debuted at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 and climbed to No. 3 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Leading up to the release, Carti teased tracks on YouTube and Instagram, including:

  • “2024”
  • “BACKR00MS” (feat. Travis Scott)
  • “H00DBYAIR”

Additionally, Carti performed unreleased songs at Rolling Loud Miami in December 2024, including “Lose You” (feat. The Weeknd).

Playboi Carti’s Album Release Strategy

Carti is known for his unconventional rollouts, and MUSIC follows his tradition of dropping albums around major festival performances. His 2018 debut album, Die Lit, was released right before Rolling Loud Miami, and now, MUSIC arrives just a day before he headlines Rolling Loud California today.

Five Years Since ‘Whole Lotta Red’

MUSIC is Playboi Carti’s first full-length album since 2020’s Whole Lotta Red, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and became one of the most divisive yet celebrated albums in hip-hop. That project featured collaborations with Ye (“Go2DaMoon”), Kid Cudi (“M3tamorphosis”), and Future (“Teen X”).

What’s Next for Carti?

With MUSIC already breaking records, fans are eager to see where Carti takes things next. His Rolling Loud California set is expected to be one of the festival’s biggest highlights, with speculation that he may debut even more new material.

Stay tuned as MUSIC continues its historic run, potentially setting even more streaming and chart records in the coming weeks.
