Bass mastermind Ray Volpe today unleashes his most diverse and anticipated project to date, ‘VOLPETRON ASCENDS,’ as his debut Monstercat EP.

This five-track powerhouse blends Volpe’s signature sounds across the realms of dubstep, melodic bass, and bass house, cementing his reign as a true bass luminary.

In addition to previously released festival-favourites like the crowd-chanting anthem “HAPPY SONG” and “EAT SLEEP RAGE,” the newly unveiled EP delivers three long-anticipated offerings. “ASCENSION” opens the package with dark and riveting hums that explode into Ray’s signature bubbly yet gritty bass stabs setting the mood for a genre-bending experience. Listeners will be captivated with euphoric catharsis as they play “IT ISN’T ME,” as RUNN’s shimmering vocals embrace feelings that come with heartbreak. Ray weaves heartfelt emotions into every note for a resplendent melodic bass banger that ignites a floating sensation. “DROP EM” showcases a newer side to Ray’s bass soundscapes, introducing bouncy house elements, distorted hybrid trap stylings, and deep growling bass for the likes of all electronic music aficionados.

Ray Volpe shares, “This EP means a lot to me. After the last year of explosive growth, I felt an immense amount of pressure to “follow it up” and keep the momentum going. It caused me to hit a brick wall for a bit, but eventually I broke through and made a collection of what feels like my best work to date. It’s an incredibly exciting and creatively fulfilling feeling.”

Since stepping into the scene over a decade ago, Ray has risen as a household name in the electronic scene. He has undoubtedly forged an invincible path elevating the essence of the bass circuit to eye-opening capacities. A leader of “commercial dubstep,” Ray has leveled up his sound design with playability for DJs spanning an array of genres, including icons like Skrillex, Marshmello, who he collaborated with this year on “Old School,” Afrojack, Chris Lake, Alan Walker, Timmy Trumpet, Excision, who he is opening for at Phoenix Raceway next month, Dillon Francis, DJ Snake, Illenium, The Chainsmokers, NGHTMRE (with whom he has a headlining B2B at Echostage in November), and others.

This past year has seen Volpe go from playing festivals during the day, to headlining festivals including his debut at Rampage Open Air where he closed out the Dubstep stage. His sensational records have dominated venues and festivals around the globe, and even in the digital realm as viral trend starters. His career-changing record, “Laserbeam,” was named the most played dubstep track in 2022 & hit Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Chart. Fresh off the announcement of his eponymous EP tour, Volpe kicked the run off at his Lollapalooza debut, and will follow with more first appearances at Nocturnal Wonderland and the first-ever EDSEA. He will headline and play at bigger venues than ever before, including Skyway Theatre in Minneapolis and Roseland Theater in Portland. Earlier this year, he debuted at Tomorrowland, EDC Las Vegas, where he packed out the Basspod, Sunset Music Festival, Îlesoniq, and Moonrise Festival, and opened for Kayzo at The Kia Forum and Dabin at The Brooklyn Mirage. Last week he played a massive set at Bass Canyon, and will also make his awaited return to Lost Lands this year.

A huge advocate for mental health, Ray Volpe has cemented himself as a compassionate and relatable figure, using his platform to openly discuss his emotional well-being to help destigmatize the topic and encourage others to seek support.
