Grammy nominated duo Riton and Kah-Lo have unveiled the official video release for their rumbling club floorfiller, ‘Fake ID’, which has gained almost 3 million streams on Spotify since its release.

Released on Riton’s Riton Time label, the track sees the highly in-demand pair, who have amassed over 50 million streams on previous releases together, blend their talents to form a stomping house hit which has already received heavy support from BBC Radio 1, most notably from Annie Mac.

Shot in Lagos – a nod to Kah-Lo’s Nigerian heritage, the video follows the pair using their fake ID cards in the heart of the city’s nightlife, relaxing with friends amid a mellow setting. Capturing the essence of Lagos nightlife on film, the vibrantly shot production is directed by Ademola Famola; the extremely talented 19 year-old cinematographer from Lagos.

On the video, Riton says he “wanted it to look real DIY and show what a typical night out in Lagos is really like, especially for those who might not have ever experienced it before”. With the makeshift feel to the video, they even managed to shut down the entire Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge to shoot the driving scenes.”

Kah-Lo explains: “It was a really long shoot, we shot through most of the night and surprisingly, it was pretty chilly at night! It’s always great being back home in Lagos and having Henry in town, showing him around Lagos was a lot of fun. He really got on with everybody.”

Having been playlisted by BBC 6 Music, as well as enjoying heavy airplay across Radio 1, Kiss FM and Beats 1, ‘Fake ID’ utilises Riton’s tribal beat and four-to-the-floor club ready bassline, with Kah-Lo’s rich vocals bringing dynamic vigour to the production.

The single follows Kah-Lo and Riton’s chart-topping smash ‘Rinse & Repeat’ which has amassed over 47 million online streams. The phenomenal success of the single (including a coveted Grammy nomination for Best Dance Record, and being named one of the Top 10 most played songs on BBC Radio 1 for 2016) was followed by this year’s Afrobeats-infused summer anthem ‘Fasta’.

Having built a strong and organic musical relationship, which first transpired from social media, the two have been going from strength to strength with each record, enjoying a hectic touring schedule in 2017, performing at V Festival, Creamfields, SW4, Radio 1 in Ibiza, and London’s Electric Brixton.

With both artists establishing themselves as huge in-demand names this year, ‘Fake ID’ continues their meteoric rise, and showcases the unmistakable sound carved out by the Riton-Kah-Lo partnership.
