Jon Gooch – more commonly known by his Feed Me moniker – returns to his drum & bass alias Spor with “Throw Down Let Go.”

Available now via mau5trap, “Throw Down Let Go” serves as the second single from Spor’s forthcoming Cave EP.

A prolific drum & bass artist with a project dating back to the early 2000s, Spor is known for his cutting-edge approach to sound design. The multi-hyphenate cut his teeth on early production software as a teenager in his family home, learning the ins-and-outs of organic and synthetic sound.

Inspired by the sounds of Pink Floyd, Yes, Radiohead, and Squarepusher, Gooch’s fascination with electronic instrumentation grew from a young age, and at 18-years-old, Spor was born. Throughout his widely celebrated career, Spor released hit singles “Darkest Hours” and “Aztec,” with his recent 2020 Anachronic EP garnering high praise across the industry. Having stepped away from his drum & bass alias for two years to focus on Feed Me, Spor’s ultimate return to the spotlight came earlier in April with “Let Me Be,” a cerebral work of high-octane sound design.

“Let Me Be” garnered high praise from tastemakers including UKF, Your EDM, DJ LIFE, and countless others. Now, the creative continues to journey through his forthcoming Cave EP, delivering his sweltering, vocal-driven “Throw Down Let Go.” Gooch explains, “Often I find drum & bass requires an organic component to offset how digitised it can become, and much of what I hear sounds sterile and too controlled to me. Georgia from Liinks brought exactly what I felt was needed, it’s always magic when as soon as you hear someone’s vocal you know it works, I am just the framework after that point to carry the message.”

“Throw Down Let Go” follows Spor’s “Let Me Be,” his first single in two-years after a hiatus focusing on his Feed Me project. His forthcoming Cave EP is due out Friday, May 20 via mau5trap.

“My career as Spor ultimately was what led me to meeting Joel in London and signing with mau5trap, something that was a huge catalyst and substantially altered my life,” explains Gooch on his forthcoming EP. “It made sense to me to finally bring these two entities together with a release. ‘Cave’ was the Latin motto of my hometown at that time, as well as a refuge, solitude, fortification, and a creative space. Holed up, nocturnal, pushing for driving energy and exploring with sound- that is a location I can always come back to.”
