Steve Aoki and Nicky Romero are back in full force, this time teaming up on a collaborative project that melds explosive mainstage power with sleek club finesse. Their brand-new Higher Off The Ground EP isn’t just a team-up but rather a moment in time when two giants of dance music sharpen each other’s strengths and push the sound forward.
Aoki’s adrenaline-laced electro energy meets Romero’s tech-house precision, and the result is a release designed to shake arenas, festivals, and underground rooms alike. The EP serves up two standout records, each showcasing a different side of their shared vision.
“Higher Off The Ground” leads with festival energy: booming basslines, sharp percussion, and synth work that blows up with cinematic intensity. It’s the kind of track made for peak hours where confetti cannons go off, hands go up in the air, and for a second, the crowd is weightless. Pure lift-off energy.
On the other side, “Day & Night” brings in that deeper, groove-focused flavor. Warm, rolling rhythms, hypnotic vocal touches, and fluid tech-house textures make it perfect for intimate club rooms or sunrise sets where the music pulls you in instead of knocking you over. Together, the two tracks highlight not just power, but a balance, a proper journey through dance-floor moods.
Speaking about the collaboration, Aoki reflected on the creative chemistry:
“Working with Nicky has been pure energy since the very start. We’ve both evolved through the dance-music world, and this EP is about pushing that evolution even higher-those moments when the crowd lifts off and hits a new level together.”
Not surprisingly, Romero concurred, saying:
After ‘Be Somebody,’ coming together again just felt natural. Steve has such a strong creative vision, and with this EP, we wanted to capture the excitement of the mainstage but still keep the grooves and character of real club music.
For over a decade, Aoki and Romero have shaped electronic music culture from festival anthems to club staples. With Higher Off The Ground, they remind the world why they remain at the top – innovating while keeping the dance-floor heartbeat at the center. The EP drops November 7 via Dim Mak/Protocol Recordings, and expect it to become a late-night weapon and festival favorite all season long.
