Tisoki is finally breaking out his highly anticipated ‘SONGS TO PLAY LOUD’ EP, a collection of crowd-pleasing bass cuts that are being bundled together on Bassrush Records .
L.A. transplant Tisoki explores a wide array of sounds and genres across the five-track offering of his new EP. “No Rules” sets the tone with a raucous and unrelenting energy. Breakbeat sections, “turn up the bass” vocal loops and vicious laser leads serve as the foundation while crisp claps and expertly placed samples round out this dancefloor killer. Living up to its name, the track defies boundaries for a chest-pounding, feet-moving weapon.
Connecting with rising Australian bass music chameleon Leotrix, the pair take listeners “Miles Away.” The inviting introduction welcomes you in before obliterating speakers with a wild glitchy drop. Futuristic synths and forward-thinking vocal bends intertwine for an addictive yet impactful punch. The track embodies the feeling of a hyperspeed race through the cosmos.
Switching the style up midway through the project comes “NOHO” alongside North Carolina rapper Bansaint. The track fuses elements of rap, drill, and bass for a mean-mugging anthem. The icy melody provides the perfect backdrop for Bansaint’s cold and calculated bars. A repeatable and in-your-face hook primes listeners for the aggressive post-dubstep drops. “NOHO” finds the perfect balance between swagger and menacing to create a show-ready anthem.
“Lose It On You” further showcases Tisoki’s collaborative talents, connecting with German-based producer Sublab, and rising Bay Area singer-songwriter Tima Dee. The song’s emotional appeal is only matched by its catchiness. Blurring the lines between pop and futuristic trap, Tima Dee’s vocals serve as the focal point with the track’s lush atmospherics amplifying and expanding on her performance. The vibrant drops create a feeling of elation and unbridled excitement, balancing against Dee’s powerful verses. It’s a modern love song that’s scored with peaks and valleys like any great relationship.
Closing out the EP comes “Questions? Answers!” Ripe with uncertainty, the song utilizes a simple vocal that is bent and pitched to expand the emotional range felt throughout. The masterclass in vocal bends is enhanced with precise percussion and room-filling leads. Perplexity meets an upbeat bounce for a sound that’s captivating and impactful while still remaining fun. The beautiful outro serves as a fitting finale to the diverse project.
Tisoki explains the inspiration behind the project, saying: “This is the first time I’ve specifically made an EP for playing live, all of these songs sound great in a live environment and I’ve been using them all in my sets for a while now. The structures are more attention-grabbing with less low points, meaning the energy stays the same throughout. Very grateful for all the collaborators, too, who made this project super special to me.”
In commemoration of his exhilarating body of work, Tisoki is poised to allow each track to live up to its intended purpose as he embarks on the aptly named ‘Something Loud’ Tour. Spanning the next half year, the 11-stops string of dates will see him touching down at key cities around the world, including Soundcheck in Washington D.C., Detroit, Chicago, Denver, Atlanta, and a special hometown performance at Colours in London.
‘SONGS TO PLAY LOUD’ elevates Tisoki’s position as one of the brightest rising stars in electronic music. From heavy-hitting stompers to melodic bops, Tisoki’s latest offering is a testament to the artist’s diverse talents.
