Making her triumphant mau5trap debut, Bay Area-born, Los Angeles-bred Wenzday delivers a sonic production for the ages. Her poem-turned-performance “The One” is available worldwide on Friday, August 27 via the deadmau5-run imprint.

From her early beginnings at ICON Collective, to her timely coalescing with Dash Radio, Wenzday is a jack-of-all-trades. The multi-hyphenate cut her teeth on the sounds of the underground before catapulting into stardom herself. Between hosting her own radio show every Wednesday on Dash Radio, to her work as a co-founder of the hit bass label 40oz Cult, there’s nothing Wenzday can’t do.

Now, Wenzday takes her talents to the renowned mau5trap label to debut “The One,” a raw anthem of post-heartbreak pain. Exploring motifs of sadness, confusion, and anger, Wenzday wears her heart on her sleeve in her latest, weaving a tale of love lost and moving on.

“The One” sees Wenzday singing for the first time ever on her own track, an experience the creative referred to as “cathartic” in the wake of her breakup.

A truly perfect amalgamation of everything Wenzday, “The One” is the wondrous intersection of the underground and mainstream, best characterized by its intricate melodies and rousing production.

“I wrote ‘The One’ originally as a poem after my breakup earlier this year. I never intended it to be a song or even be heard by anyone for that matter. I just needed to get how I was feeling on paper-the anger, the sadness, the confusion of how you can go one day being with a person you care about to all alone the next. One day I was in the studio and I wrote the musical part of the song as you hear it now and after trying for hours to make a sample or a top line work so I decided to sing my own words. This is the first time I have sung on my own track and the process was extremely cathartic. I am so excited for everyone to hear my own words in my own voice.” – Wenzday
