Yungblud has just dropped Idols, and he’s made it clear this isn’t just another record, it’s a full-blown emotional expedition.
The Fleabag rocker opened up about the album on Instagram, calling it the result of “every single molecule of energy and emotion.” According to him, this is only the first part of a two, album story, with the second half still to come.
“I’ve gone back and forth so many times on what I should say in this post,” he wrote, referring to the pressure of introducing such a personal project. “But everything I wanted to say lies within the music.”
This marks a big shift from the high-flying success of Weird!, which hit No.1 and pushed Yungblud into a new level of fame. But instead of riding that wave with more radio-friendly hits, he chose to dig deeper.
“I was dissuaded from doing Idols after Weird!,” he told The Sun. “People wanted me to work on something else to capitalize on the commercial success. But I didn’t want to make vapid songs that just sound good on the radio.”
Sure, the Idols album has some big anthemic tracks, but Yungblud insists that’s not the point. “There’s no gimmicks, man. None. This is me leaving everything on the table.”
The singer-songwriter took full creative control, orchestrating the project from top to bottom. He describes it as “deep and five-dimensional, lyrically and musically.” He didn’t just want to make a record. He wanted to build a story that grows with his fans over time.
“All I can hope for is that you close your eyes and immerse yourself in this journey, from start to finish,” he shared. Whether you’re listening alone or with people you love, Yungblud wants this album to feel like something you can pass on, like a shared emotional roadmap.
And he’s not done yet. “Normally, the album campaign ends here,” he said. “But this time we’re only halfway through the story.”
He started writing Idols four years ago, right after Weird! topped the charts. While he spent a lot of time overseas, he says he had to come back home to finish this one. That sense of grounding and reconnection is all over the album.
Yungblud’s Idols album isn’t just a music drop, it’s a personal statement, a defiant move away from pop expectations, and a sign of what’s still to come. Fans should buckle up, because this ride is far from over.
Stay tuned for part two of Idols, Yungblud is just getting started.
