Boar’s Head Recall Triggers $3.1M Settlement—Final Weeks to Claim Payment

If you bought Boar’s Head meat products last summer, you might be entitled to a cash settlement, and time’s almost up to claim it.

Boar’s Head Provisions Co. has agreed to pay $3.1 million to settle a class-action lawsuit over potential listeria contamination tied to a 2024 meat recall. The Boar’s Head settlement includes direct payments for eligible consumers, and the deadline to file is May 16, 2025.

What Happened?

In July 2024, Boar’s Head announced a voluntary recall of certain deli meat products sold between May 10 and August 12, 2024, due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause serious illness, especially in pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems.

The recall sparked legal action from consumers who claimed they were sold unsafe products and suffered financial harm. While Boar’s Head denied any wrongdoing, it agreed to the multimillion-dollar payout to resolve the claims.

What’s Covered in the Settlement?

The settlement applies only to specific meat products that were included in the 2024 recall. It does not apply to Boar’s Head cheese or any other products outside the recall list.

To qualify for a payout, you must have purchased the recalled products for personal use (not resale) during the specified time window.

How Much Money Can You Get?

It depends on whether you have proof of purchase:

  • With Receipt: You can get a full refund for each recalled item you purchased, provided your receipt or invoice shows the product name, price, date, and store location.
  • Without Receipt: You can still get a refund equal to the average retail price for up to two recalled items, no proof required.
  • Already Reimbursed? If Boar’s Head already refunded you directly during the recall, your payment from this settlement will be reduced accordingly.

How to File a Claim

To receive your share of the Boar’s Head settlement:

  1. Go to the Settlement Administrator’s website (link usually provided in official notices).
  2. Fill out the claim form with your contact info and purchase details.
  3. Attach receipts if available (optional).
  4. Submit by May 16, 2025.

That’s it. No lawyer, no court appearance, no hidden strings.

Important: Submitting a false claim is illegal and could reduce payments for real claimants. If you’re not sure you qualify, check the site’s FAQ section first.

What If You Want to Opt Out?

If you don’t want to be part of the settlement, say, you want to sue separately, you must opt out by May 16. That’s also the last day to file an objection if you have concerns about how the settlement is being handled.

A final approval hearing is set for August 13, 2025. After that, payments should be distributed to claimants, though the timeline depends on court approval and administrative processing.

TL;DR:

  • What: $3.1 million Boar’s Head meat recall settlement
  • Why: Listeria concerns in products sold May 10–Aug 12, 2024
  • Deadline: May 16, 2025
  • With receipt: Full refund
  • Without receipt: Refund for up to 2 items
  • Excluded: Cheese and non-recalled products
